Is that a rotating stand? or did you unscrew the monitor to set it tallways. just i have a flatron l246wh and the stand looks identical apart from its white and i can not rotate mine :waah:

    Interesting potential...
I presume if you had a USB hard disk going at the same time it would slow to a standstill?

I don't get all the TN+ Film hate...

My Acer P243W has wonderful colours.. Really vibrant. And the black levels are acceptable too.. The image quality is excellent, as far as I'm concerned.

However, having said that.. I'm never actually seen a PVA or MVA panel.. Of course I've seen IPS in TVs.. the black levels and sharpness of which I am unimpressed with..

same with my flatron, though i payed £320 for it not to long ago, so it was at the more costly end for a 24" TN+

I paid £260.. I figured that was a reasonable price.. especially since soon after the price jumped up to £300.

You said something about laptops with analog VGA not being able to handle widescreen resolutions? I run my 24" 1920x1200 monitor off of the VGA port on my laptop with no problems, I watch DVDs and streaming video on it all the time, plus the occasional game.

Same.. when I want a better monitor for watching videos on my laptop, I use VGA... No problems running at 1920x1200.

I have to wonder if there's something wrong with your test PC. I use a DisplayLink product (EVGA UV+16) at 1680x1050 every day at work and it works really well. I can play DVDs on it too and I only have a Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz. Sure, it's not very good for 3D gaming, but what do you really use your computer for on a day-to-day basis? I find the USB display really convenient, especially for expanding my notebook PC.

Really sleek and sexy, quite a visually appealing monitor, like the Samsungs.

i used to be like you, defending my beloveed old acer. then i splurged and bought a PVA benq. i'll never go back. it's a huge difference in brightness, clarity, contrast, and color.
