So finally everything is set up, bought, running great and in its home at Uni! You like? Also, what do you think most needs upgrading on the computer, what can I look forward to purchasing next christmas? I think a solid state drive is definitely got to be on the cards. Currently playing Battlefield 3 at 1080p, everything on high, 4xAA, full AF. Runs brilliant, except I'm **** at it! Steep learning curve and all, and I have hardly any mates that play it ..
Looks a nice enough place to play games and watch telly bit of a tease tho, you gotta get some photos of inside the rig posted! What do you think of Bulldozer?
Nice. I was **** at BF3 for the first month because I hadn't played an FPS for so long. At the end of every round my kill ratio was lower than my death. In other words I'd typically have maybe 5 kills versus 13 deaths. Now it's more like 17 sniper kills versus 8 deaths.
That's as good as it's gunna get for now haha, I'm not pulling it back out ! To be honest so far I've found bulldozer absolutely great, no qualms with it at all. Obviously though I haven't done anything REALLY CPU heavy, what would stretch it do you think? I'll add you now Parge. I don't get how you speak to your teammates by the way, do you have to do it through Battlelog? Tundra, well I picked all the components specifically and DinoPC assembled it for me and posted it.
Nice one, glad you're happy, from the photos looks like they have done a bit of cable tidying which is good (hard to tell tho) Lots of programs you can try to give her a test, the CPC media benchmark suite is not bad, futuremark benchies for graphics performance/CPU performance. Maybe download some monitoring software and see what temps your getting such as CPUID CPU Z and HWmonitor and or Core temp. MSI afterburner for your GPU. Always nice to get an idea of what your new hardware is doing
Then why only the 4100? Bulldozer has enough performance issues at the eight-core level, without the problems that arise from only having half the cores.
If BF3 is his priority tho his CPU isn't an issue? Haven't checked the price difference of 4 vs 8 core admittedly
http://gyazo.com/c23d29f90755c98f5c0a82a0e21903b9 There we go, quiet a difference in price, although I personally would've gone with an i3 build but hey ho
yea, hard to argue core vs bulldozer price/performance. Annoyingly. Was so hoping it would be kickass
I think we all were, not nice to see AMD being beaten so comprehensively :/ Would be better to see a viable competition between the two
the 4100 represents the most value for money to be honest, and most consumer level applications arn't at all optimized for 8 cores, so the extra money is a waste. To be honest I think I should have gone the i3 route for the same money (I was on a very tight budget.. system was built for £550 including Windows, a good deal I think you''ll agree. i3 was about £570) but the motherboard for the AMD cpu's are so much better for the same money. I haven't got use for a faster CPU... well I hope not!
