finally got my SMD LEDs yesterday... i was pretty tired of that dull green color of my phone backlight... ok.. so i gut home.. and I did this: ( ) well... this is actually taken after i changed the leds.. forgot about it.. .... and here.. the leds already soldered in place.. if you look at the left of the left led you can se that i dropped the soldering iron at the little pad (big in this case) and left a drop of soldering tin on it.. it looks worde in the picture than in real life.. I managed to crean up most of it.. and volà: ok... and here are the leds... i got 10 of those in the middle in my phone.. the one on the left is original led in phones like nokia 3310 and 3330.. i got a nokia 3210.. BTW.. those holes in that PCB is 0.8 mm.. and the red LED is 3mm.. while i was messing around i saw this.. : it's my neightbours cat sleeping... never seen a cat sleep like that.. dosn't exactly look comfy.. hehe
Maybe its got that thing where you randomly fall asleep.... "right tweetie, I'm so going to pounce on yo" ZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzz
I just got a mental picture of the sound that cat's head hitting the board... possibly making his nap longer.. someone get that feline some better personal space to crash please...
you should have posted the cat pick in general discussion... it's a shame that you did a class mobile mod and all we are talking about is this passed out kitty...
nice mod, i have done a fair bit of soldering, but i cant see how you can solder something that small any tips?? you have to be brave to open your phone like that, i would never open my t68i, too expensive even thought i got it second hand my cats when they were young would sleep no matter what, we could hang him in the air and he would sleep
it's not as hard as it seems... i have soldered lots during my electronics career (got my first soldering iron when i was 10 i think.. and i'm almost 18 now)... But this was my first try on SMD's.. the tip of my iron was a bit to big, so i wasn't able to save the original LEDS.. (the pads was almost under the LED itself) but the new LEDs had the pads sticking a bit out on the sides so it went just ok.. at scool now we have equipment to solder SMD's.. (small tip soldering iron, hot air iron and a microscope) it's easy when you have a microscope and proper equipment... but using soldering paste with a hot air iron isn't a good idea.. i'm planning on getting a new phone now BTW.. a Nokia 5100 i think.. (*reads trough first post* wow! look at all those typos*)
i actually started out ledding mobile phones before anything else. Did quite a few of those and then now im modding puters i still think wiring/solder wiring is more difficult though. some how anyways. Jus the wires get tangled etc. LOL
Heh I was just thinking about changing the LED's in my phone today. I dont exactly know what colors I want though. Was thinking like red, or green or somthing. Im just tired or seeing blue.
what? tired of blue? how could you get tired of the bright, pretty bl0000000 ?¿? <seriouly> blue looks good
