What happens when someone files an unauthorised transaction case against you on Paypal? I sold a Ted Baker phone case my partner bought in error on eBay well over a month ago now just before Christmas, I just happened to be going on PayPal to check for something and noticed a case had been opened on the 26th of this month claiming that the purchase was an 'unauthorised transaction' It was just under £20 so not something you'd necessarily forget about and tracking suggests it arrived just before Christmas. The buyer on eBay appears to be a female but paid through her husband (I presume because of name) Paypal account... I've provided the tracking information with her name and the details but surely they can't hold me liable for something like this...? It may be she used his account without his knowledge and now he's chasing something he thinks is suspicious?
In my case they ended up with the item and their money back, thanks paypal Wasn't via ebay and the item was collected though so may have more on your side
If you sold on Ebay the only thing I can think of is to point out if the registered address of the card used, delivery address on ebay and address of the Paypal account all match, Paypal should have access to that information. You've already sent the tracking information, not much more you can do. It's a long shot, Paypal tend to default in favour of the buyer in all cases because they're lazy.
Same with eBay... just irritating. It’s not a load of money but still... I suspect it’s one of two things, genuinely not realising his missus has been on the spend or, feeling the pinch and trying his luck.
