As amazing as this setup is , and the cost!! ... Screens arnt in the right place. Need to be closer , wheel base unit needs to be under the screens , extension bar on the wheel shaft. If i was about to drop 50k on a sim rig id do it properly.
Im sure he wouldnt want my objective opinions. I sim-race on a budget and make do with what i have. I consider this to be wayyy more correct . Just think the POV is a bit off. That motion rig is something though really is.
Point i was making is , getting your POV correct is paramount , look at this chap above , hes positioned in the true sense that if he reached out he could touch the dash , true should be the same for any simulation , the input he puts in is a true reflection of being in a real car and the sim will respond accordingly , he'll find it easier to handle and the car control will be far more natural . Before i hark on about what i know , i suffer the same , my rig is just a rig sat in front of a 55" TV . I can manage with it but its not a true reflection of sitting in a real car , hence the input i put in will never be what it should be , its adjusted from my own POV and i compensate for it.
Ive re-watched this now im home with sound! Yeah seems like a decent bloke ... i take back my 50k estimate hes spent way more! 8k just for the pedals... money no object clearly , but fair play. Defiantly missing some of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Bezel-Free-ABF01-screens-inches/dp/B086HGNL3C
My current setup until I sort out triple monitors with something like a rig from rock solid rigs. No game on the screen to avoid the PoV police
I have only ever played in cockpit view when I worked at codies and had to as part of the testing procedures. Had a fanatec Porsche wheel set and my test rig had a 6990 or something mental at the time.
Im not usually this fussy any sim racer would push their granny down the stairs for one of those .. its a scratch that needs an itch
Very nice , pretty similar setup to myself. The DD base and wheel is utterly brilliant , cant see why you'd need more. I have the same GT Omega also. What are those pedals? I have the basic Fanatec set which... works but not amazing. Rigs setup like this except with the Fanatec DD these days.
In this day and age, for a proper sim racing setup, would a headset not always be the best choice, and if not what would the reasons for that be? (Serious question - my most serious sim racing setup is GT7, PSVR2 and a G29 strapped to a lawn chair, so I have absolutely no idea) EDIT: The smorgasbord of buttons he has could be an issue with a headset I suppose
I've got: Thrustmaster TX Base Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel Thrustmaster T-LCM Pedals Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter Playseat Challenge Xbox or PC with Rift S To get anything better I'd have to get a divorce first. Plus, I'm not convinced my skill level needs anything better
They're Heusinkveld Sprint pedals. Very nice. they don't make you faster but the consistency I've been able to get with them is boggling when compared to my old pedals. I've ben tempted by a better wheel but it ends up buying a house doesn't leave you with much fun money lol. These are on load from a co-worker. They've ben great so far. The general consensus seems to be a VR headset is better for immersion if you manage to get it dialled in perfectly but a triple monitor setup will be quicker as the peripheral vision is better. I'm not yet sure which I'm going to go with. Would people be here be interested in a bit-tech assetto corsa night?
