Hi, Had Windows Vista for a few Month now been having odd failed burn every so often but lately its giving me a head ache will not burn, so wondering if it could be Driver related ??? never had a problem on WinXP Pro. Have Nforce 4 Mobo with Nvidia Nforce 15.01 WHQL drivers.. Video NVidia 175.16 (cant see video drivers to blame) Just wondering if the Mobo drivers could be to blame ??? or not.. Thanks... Ps. tried many Burning softwares all same fail, this on 2 internal CD burners.
I don't think this is a Vista or driver issue, as else burning software would work. Its simply dust in the drive or dirty disks, or manufacture error of the disks (occurred to me once, in a tower of 50, they were all bad except maybe for 5-6). Or even that your optical drive can't grab disks properly anymore so the disk is slipping. Reading disk is ok, but burning: constant speed is crucial.
as suggested above, i would first try using different blank media, try a lower burning speed or update the drives firmware which most manufacturers have made easy with a windows utility. if you upgrade the firmware, make sure you read the instructions carefully and do not interrupt the process and note that there is always a small risk that the process could break the drive altogether. best of luck
