Looking great! They just keep getting smaller and smaller. Pretty soon you'll build one to fit in your pocket!
haven't seen this one before! nice work slip. you always make so wonderful cases! Btw, are you a carpenter or a model builder? always so many layers to get it rock solid, it reminds me of the ones bulilding models
Thanks for commenting. I can't talk about the...ah....the....ah...thingy. Thanks for watching. Thanks! "Slipperyskip's Wooden Adventures" Working title for my reality TV show. Thanks! Thanks for subbing. Small and cheap should be the theme but I'll leave the cheap for some other person to figure out. Cute? Cute? There's no cute in case modding (except maybe a Hello Kitty project). I designed it so the power cable and video cable are plugged into the lower section of the I/O plate (when standing upright). Hopefully that will help. The base I'm using here is a working base. The real base will come later. Thanks Voights. My ultimate goal is to put a computer into a mouse.....seriously. Thanks man. 14 hours with a set of dull hobby files. Yoohoo! Thanks Waynio! Good to have you aboard. Thanks Bob. Thanks kelmannen. In my youth I was addicted to model building. Got that from my father. My great uncle was a renowned dollhouse builder back in the 40's/50's when it was considered high art. *********************************** Soliciting opinions. First up is a stylized case mod window. Next is a design that uses two geometric shapes to create a "zig-zag" pattern in the remaining space. Any opinions on these preliminary ideas? BTW, Acero (a-chair-o) is Italian for maple.
The darkened areas will be black acrylic inlayed into an amber-tinted birds-eye maple. I like the contrast between maple and black. A stylized window wouldn't be an actual window but it should be recognizable as a "standard" tower case mod style. Or...something like that.
oooh! i like the birds-eye/black contrast! will it be a flat base? hmmm... i not a big fan of the ziggy-ziggy :/ how about a little more square or multisquare? combining the two sketches adding a little more squarityishness i took the liberty of some really high-tech bit-tech standard: Paint mockup! this is ofc my opinion and a very non-astethic/correctly measured squares.. -_-'
That's interesting. Thanks. Maybe a little too much black. The top vent and the front vent are already black mesh so I was looking for some decorative elements on the side to tie it together and make it flow and all those other artsy-fartsy terms. I'm not sure what you mean by "flat base".
Angled photos showing the top and front vents. Does the faux window version remind anyone of a classic case mod design? One thing I like about the zig-zag version is how I tied it to the front vent and presumably flowing back down around the other side.
^Me too. \blah\\ And yes skip it is very classic old-school looking window. But with not fully knowing what you are planning I can't really say if I like it more than the zig zag or the chained squares.//blah/ Sorry, me & skipping some details, hmmm, zig zag lines up nicely to the front so yeah zig zag.
I really love seeing your work. I have to wonder if you've had a go at making a case for this board's fruit-pastry dessert competitor?
My fault for posting out-of-context photos. I agree with the zig zag...see update photos. lol now that's funny. Would make as much sense as water-cooling a smart phone. The case vents aren't really needed but I can already hear the howling if I left them out. Thanks for the comment Neil. Thanks. My website gets a lot of traffic from the RPi forums. Hopefully they find some inspiration. Thanks! Added the framework for the acrylic inlays. Added material to the top vent opening so that it aligns with the side design just as the front vent does. Rear view I love gloss black paint but I can never get the results I like. Black acrylic doesn't get any glossier so I'm trying out a new method I call cheating. The paper will stay on until 3 seconds before the final photo shoot. Paranoia and experience talking. I hope it works because this is way more fun than painting. Thanks for looking!
