    Warning: Moral Outrage Rant

Sorry guys, I gotta get on a soapbox here.

I have some comments for the 2 people that voted "Just go away".

That action shows a dramatic lack of understanding of a principle that I think is the most important thing to learn in life. That is "Love your Enemy".

Anyone can go through this log and see that a lot of work is going into this project, and the work is FAR from a hack job. It meets the criteria for a valid project log in every way.

Also, anyone looking through the log can see that the response is OVERWHELMINGLY positive.

There's an old addage: "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything." This is something that I have noticed in here. Almost every time, people in here say negative things very nicely, along with finding something positive to say along with it, and quailfying their negative comments with "It's only my opinion" etc. That is one of the first things I noticed and is what drew me to this forum.

Given all the above, telling someone to just go away tells much more about the voter than it does the voted.

@modsquad: So, here I'm going to put YOU on the spot. Go back and read all the comments from EVERYONE in your project log, especially the ones from some of the top modders in here. If you are thinking of abandoning this log because of any of those comments, then apply "Love your Enemy" to the people making negative comments. Those comments say more about them than it does you.

As for me, I agree with the HUGE majority of the people in here that think Black Rain is AWESOME, in concept, execution and results! And the way you present it and comment it makes me think you are a pretty nice person.

OK, the poll shows 22 do it all the way and 2 go away (and 1 just the mods). So, by the poll so far, you'd complete it all the way. I say: Don't finish the mod because the poll says so, finish the mod on principle. It's YOUR project log and you have every right to have it in here even if NOBODY likes it (Well, as long as you follow the rules and don't act like a jerk, which you: 1. have and: 2. haven't). If you let them affect you, then my assessment would be that you are overly sensitive, but that's only my opinion.

And to heck with the insignificant little twits with barely 2 digit IQs. (OK, that's not really "Love your Enemy", but I like the way it sounds.)

Finally, if you would rather not have this in your project log, just IM me and I'll edit it to just be a positive comment about how much I love the work you are doing.

Dan you hit the nail on the head. I'm sorry but if someone doesn't like the project just go away. No one forced you to look at this persons work. 5 stars for all your efforts there modsquad. I'm building a wood case from scratch. No store bought wood. Its from a downed tree and lumber mill. I have done everything for this project, but I have people puting my project down because its wood. Guess what, your computer is most likely sitting on, near under or in wood. Huh!!!

Keep going modsquad. Im watching and learning......

I logged in after a long break from here just to get another vote in to offset those who couldn't help but post negative comments on this project.

Get this project finished and enjoy the result, modsquad. The work you've done so far straight out demands to be finished, no matter what anyone says! (including me ;) )

    Sorry, one more post.

modsquad, in another thread, a very wise person gave some advice to someone worried about the ratings.

    Wise Advice

Hehe, put THAT advice in your pipe and smoke it.

    (Yes, I'm evil... :D )

Couldnt agree more - as you say it's not about the ratings Modsquad. It's about creating something you love with your own two hands. Not everyone is going to like what you do, the same as you aint going to like everything that others do.

You cant stop this now! :thumb:

Too many words for only two stupid people...
MS is creating something different, if you like it you speak, if you don'like it nobody forces you to read or to write...
    Simple and easy :)

Couldn't agree more with dacust's opinion. Just finish it and let these down-voters be. Who cares about them anyway?

I bet it's not hard to guess what button I pressed :hehe:

    @modsquad

I think what the problem is here is that the project logs you've provided for us have been soo in their own league when it comes to log length, visitor amount (of course there are a few exceptions, but anyways...) and generally being so popular here in the forums that there's bound to be a few people who don't understand or appreciate your work.

You just can't please everybody with every update when you consider that there has been almost 200 000 views in this thread only. I say who cares, you do this thing for yourself and hopefully you'll someday return and do another one after this. I mean there's bound to be people who hate biker parts and don't like the "dark" side of your mods.

To be totally honest, I'm not that big of a fan of biker parts myself, but I sure think it's cool that someone is making a mod using them. And that's not really the point, is it? The point is that you've shown us rest that you really do have what it takes to be a modder, amazing attention to detail, innovativeness and regular updates even though you sometimes have "real life" issues which are bound to slow you down once in a while (if you're not living with your parents or are filthy rich).

And also there's a saying at least here in Finland (probably there also :D), "You should never show anyone a piece of art that is not finished.". This presents a small problem here with the project logs. When you begin the mod say with a new case, you're showing people the white, plain canvas and usually there's the first brush strokes within the first post also and then it starts to evolve to the painting that it's about to come in time.

It would be much easier to just show the final product, the finished painting and have the people go "ooh" and "well done" a couple of times, but that would also take all the fun from the whole thing. But even then there's bound to be a few people who wouldn't like it at all, most of the people would probably be like me, looking at the Mona Lisa and appreciating the heck out of the way it has been done, but not necessarily wanting it hanging over my television and then again a few who the mod suits really well and is just up their alley.

That's just normal, so by any means, do not stop modding because of the few who hate it and don't do it just for the few die-hard fans either.

This was a bit of long and deep text, but hopefully you'll appreciate it anyways.

    Darkened aka. Janne

Couldnt agree more. I think this is the best aspect of project logs - the very fact that they are work in progress; watching a project slowy take shape over time and being able to look at page one and compare it to the finished product.

    Hi Modsquad,

I am a real big fan of your work, i've been following, as it is known to me, all of your project logs form the begining to the very end and it's been so much fun and so inspirational. In my honest opinion it would be a real shame not to finish this project log. I'm only saying this because you put on a poll, otherwise I wouldn't pressure. :D
I really hope you'll finish this log the ordinary way no matter how much time it takes, if that's not too much to ask.

    Cheers,
    Solaris

Back from vacation.. Thanks to the 99 who took the time to vote!
The poll-results are clear. I will finish the project log.. That is a point I need to clarify.. I never, at anytime thought about not finishing this machine. The question was finishing the PL. Anyone who has done a PL can tell-you how much time it takes to do-so. It's -- Work-- stop, shoot a few pictures--and again, and again.. Followed by resizing and photo-uploading. Then the project update itself.. Perhaps as much time spent updating as working- is the bottom line. MY-feeling was if no-one is interested in the machine, I am wasting (50%) of my time..
The poll says otherwise.. AND-SO we will press forward, until TRUE-FIN:
    Next update ASAP..
Once again, thanks (one and all) for your feed-back..
PS: The new bit-forum-look is pretty-cool. It seems an improvement IMHO..
