Show a bigger pic of the area to judge tongue or no.

Maybe if you do the "tongue" in both sides, that could be better.
IMHO, just one tongue looks a bit out of place.

Great job so far, Modsquad! :thumb:

    ohhh, shiny :)

I like the "tongue". To me it makes this location look more natural - as if this part needed to be there rather than being an independent piece that was bolted there later.

The spots ahead of that where the two mounting screws (or whatever they are - on the left side of the pics) now look out of place though.

I must add that I'm not usually one for a whole lot of "bling" (which is often tacky and out of place) but this is soo well done and with a consistent theme that it looks absolutely fabulous to me

@ Teyber the stuff is alloy 220 bronze #4 stain finish. A 12"x12" sheet is $45US..
The .032" thickness is the reason for the high price..
@ Multip I did a cardboard mock up like that and did not care for the look..

I am undecided.. BUT, I am very happy with the look of the brass and chrome! As I said in the update, I can take no credit for the idea.. It's pure Indian Larry !!
@Tyinsar I agree, you are walking on a razors-edge with regards to "bling". It requires a balance, and for you saying that BR has that balance--thanks. The four countersunk bolts to the left support the 5.25" bay-cage..

Over the next few weeks, updates may be in short supply. I have some "real world" issues (health of a family member) so the machine will be on the back-burner.. Please bare with me.. BUT, rest assured work will continue!
    Thanks in advance

But this implementation is yours so :thumb:
    <- bows to the master

This hobby, while fun, is no match for concerns of health - May it all go well with you and your family.

Mmm, the tongue by itself is pretty, but I suppose that having even the other side rounded will be the best solution...
BTW, i agree with Tyinsar , modding is an hobby, and the health is the first priority...
Hope everything will go well, my friend!

The tongue on one side is perfect. Asymmetrical is the way to go. And I agree with Tyinsar, this has the bling without being gaudy, or better put, elegance with some teeth. It is, as I've said before, a true masterpiece.

I would have put the tongue on the other side too to contrast with the corners of the case. Just me though.

Looks cool, however, the parts IL used seem to have a stronger colour. I think it would look better if the brass showed up more, that contrast makes it better.

add more brass everywhere, looks great on your project.

The brass sheet I used is not clear coated so exposed to air it will (should) tarnish and become darker (aka patina). Don't want to go overboard with the brass, just a touch here/there..

    Bronze is a nice choice.
-Expensive, but worth it. It has an earthy, more mature feel. (I say as I swish my wine around in the glass and adjust my monocle.):D
The tongue works in my opinion. It ties in with the round stuff on the plate and makes a stronger impression than a simple square would.

Edit: -WTF color codes say I've never posted here?? I'd swear I posted here before. It took me 49 pages to finally compliment you? I must look like a total *****!:D
BTW -The whole case is sweet like candy!

    thanks Cheaps and Brett89
IMHO the black-chrome-brass work extremely well together.. And what I really like is that you don't see many (if any) doing it..
BUT--with that said, I can take NO CREDIT for the idea

the Maestro... thanks for your help Larry! I can only imagine the bike he is building for the "Big-Fella"..
With any luck, some day (no time soon, I hope) I will get to take it for a spin !!
    MUCH love Larry!
