Rusty, Maybe you could get hold of a small rectangular sheet of Alu and echo the shape of the two slots on the drive cooler in it with drilled holes, then set it into the door from behind. Something like this? ______________ | | |OOOO OOOO| |______________| Would require the hole in the door to be cut real acurate tho' and some type of seal to finish the edges? Just an idea from someone who knows feck-all about modding, and is more autistic than artistic! (No offense to autistic peeps!) Dib. Edited: Damn! the spaces haven't come out in my text-art pici. Hope you can guess what I meant!
Solvol Autosol is the daddy! It never fails to surprise me how shiny it gets stuff! Superb handles BTW
crayfish: my car has chrome on it so autosol is my friend it roxxors! Dibley: You'll have to explain that one next time I see you mate, I'm not entirely sure what you mean - but I think I know what you are getting at - you mean cut a hole in the door to let air through to the hard-drive cooler right? That's a nice idea but could be very upsetting (not to mention expensive) if it goes wrong
Mine too! The headlights get little rust spots on them whenever it rains. The next time I polish them I'll spray a clear laquer on them to stop that. How about illuminating the space behind the blue frontage somehow?
Well that's a nice idea - I had considered putting some kind of illumination behind those drilled bezels, so that it shines through onto the back of the door. I am now wondering if there is any way I could bury leds into the corners of the door (behind the hinge brackets) - hopefully that would shine through the acrylic door, similiar to what G-gnome has been doing with the bits of green acrylic on his Orac3 project. What dya reckon? and how would I go about it?
Quick pic: Just powered up to test the PSU. Thought I'd share a piccy - Mmmm glowy Certainly gonna need some more lightage inside this thing - the fans alone won't do. Did I see some LED strip light thingies that do funky flashy things somewhere?
mm glowey indeed. Maybe a white CCFL since the bloo you get from it filtering through the windows will be much more pure, and the color match would be nice. White/blue/silver would look nice. I guess its too late but I was gonna say ditch the grills entirely, or get some interesting (read: non biohazard, alien, etc) custom ones from pc-workshop.net.
I like your idea about white CCL, why I never thought of that I really don't know! Nice one mate, defo gonna go with that - should be much brighter like you say. Customs grills, hrm, maybe, trouble is the one in the base of the PSU is 92mm and you don't see many custom ones for sale in that size. I go look at that site though, thanks
You cvould try kustom pcs for your fan grills, or better still email kong (board member) and ask him for a quote. He'll make them especially for you to your design out of a range of materials.
Opinions please: I've been playing around in photoshop today to see what some biohazard symbols might look like. Not a very original choice I know but I think it looks pretty good. I can get these made for me at a place where I used to work. Frosted clear vinyl for the window and door, dark silver for the other side of the case. Let me know what you think, or if you have any ideas for a more original symbol/logo, I'd like to see them. Cheers.
those are photoshoped pics, he hasn't done it yet, and the biohazard does look good, but you might want to try to find something different for originality's sake. this isnt that great but its simplistic and you can run with it:
Thanks for taking an interest m8. That reminds me of a planets orbit for some reason so I might take that idea and develop it. (Still think the biohazards look good though! )
I was considering that - I knew everyone would tell me off for even thinking about biohazard. Best I try and think of something
Personally I like the BioHazard symbol but not on the main window. I think it quite suits everywhere else but I'd design my own personally. Just for originality as said above really. Still. I Love the handles and they really do suit that case.
