You can't see it in the picture but that Antec PSU has the main ATX power leads all braided already - I'm hoping to keep most of the rest of the wiring out of site so probably won't need to braid it. I'll keep your suggestion in mind though, thanks.

Here's an idea - you call yourself DJRusty, and turntables are circular.....

But, when all's said and done, I think you should make the window look like those two grinding chicks in your avatar. :naughty:

Looking good so far, by the way. I've been curious to see what people would do with those cases, it seems like the door on the front would be too air-restrictive for many people to consider it.

Tulatin - thanks dude. Yeah I may well need to attach a fan to the northbridge when I start OC'ing. Sys temp runs at around 30 degrees C at the moment so I'm not unduly worried for now. I'll post a mobo-monitor screeny sometime soon.

NicePants42 - I see where you are headed with the DJ thing, I'm still undecided on the whole window applique idea at present. You probably guessed that though seeing as the window is still bare! You also mentioned that the door could be a potential cooling problem - I have an answer to that (hope so anyway), will be posting pics sometime over the coming weekend with any luck.

    Intake fan mod:

Some people have mentioned that the door on my case could lead to difficulties with cooling. I've been thinking about this and have come up with an idea. What I am gonna do is fit two 80mm intake fans into the right-hand sidepanel, near the front. The fans are to be positioned in such a way that they will blow into the gap between the drive rails and the end of the motherboard tray. I have marked out the cuts I need to make. Nearly messed up here - I realised after the first attempt, that I needed to account for the side panel sliding forward when it is refitted to the case. Good job I checked or I would have had a slight problem getting the panel back in place once the fans were fitted! This is where the cuts are gonna be after taking this into consideration.

Gonna whip the dremel out later on and start cutting - wish me luck! :dremel:

Good luck mate! Hope it goes well, if it does I may have to take a dremel to mine.

    Side panel fan modification completed:

Well, good news, I managed to get those holes cut for my side-mounted intake fans today - and not a scratch in sight! Thankfully, there were no dremel accidents involved.

Here's the first cut - looking good so far:

After I'd cut the second hole I ran into a potential problem. I had not taken into account that the panel has a lip all the way round the backside, where the edges are folded over - whoops. This meant that the fan wasn't gonna sit flush against the back of the panel. I had to dremel through the folded over lip to remove the offending area of aluminium - all the while being extra careful not to cut to deep and go through the main panel. You can see where I did this in the red circles - fortunately it all went very well and the fan sits perfectly flush - phew!

I did quickly sand down the edges of the cuts but not too much dremel action as I'd got this far without slipping up - didn't want to risk a major scratch. The cuts, although not perfect, are clean enough and will be out of site once everything is in place. Here's how the panel looks after the fan mounting holes had been drilled and all the protective masking tape was removed . . .

. . . and with the fans and grills mounted:

I do intend fitting gold wire grills to the backside of the fans, as featured elsewhere in the case, just to finish up. Haven't got any spare for now so that'll have to wait:

Couple of pics of how the panel looks once fitted coming next: :dremel:

    Here's some more shots:

Got the panel fitted now - pretty pleased with the outcome:

Well, was it worth doing? Has it improved temperatures? Seems to have done yes; especially considering I swapped out that Tornado fan for a Zalman one today as well (the high pitched whine was just too much to take, even with the speed turned down a bit). Here's a mobo monitor screeny:

Djrusty...nice job. I thought about putting fans on the right side but decide to go another route. I just couldn’t bring myself to cut up that side panel.

    It sure looks good… :thumb:

    RE: Fan mod

That fan mod looks superb Mate, I prefer those grills to the biohazard ones.... You should take this PC building malarky up as a living, mate, your wasted at NC!

Do you want us to cancel that order we placed with ebuyer on 17th December for the biohazard grills? Mr B sent them a rude e-mail the other day asking if there was any danger of ACTUALLY GETTING the order delivered?

    Shisters!
