    Mobius9,

Thanks for the idea. I was thinking of "sand blast' etching "Super Unleaded" or somethign like that.

Not sure what type of fuel import racers use. I might have to do some more research on it.

Its pretty much Jet Fuel for planes. We has a gas station that sells the stuff down the street. Im pretty sure its blue, but if you give me a little time, i will got buy some to check it out. Its not cheap but if I only get enough to fill up a soda bottle that will be good. I will let you know with some pics mabey in a week or so.

Edit: Dont need to go look, quick google search gave me this: http://www.vpracingfuels.com/vp_01_fuels.html

A differnt color for each application.

    TM,

    THanks for the information :)

I really appreciate it. All we have here is like Super Unleaded.

Hmm.. So what word, should I etch on the res? Maybe "103 Octane"?

Seems kinda funny. Maybe I'll just put "Racing Fuel".

Hmm.. have to ponder about it a bit more :)

How about NO2 120.3 Octane ? Or just simply "Nitromethane". Nitromethane is all the way at the bottom of that page i sent you. Also makes a cool project name. Just my $0.02. :D

Hmm.. NITROMETHANE sounds pretty cool. But the font maybe too small to read on the Res. I need to photochop it a bit, and see how it looks.

Thanks Hazchem. I have a few more updates coming up soon :) So keep your eyes out for that.

    CD Cage Cover

    Here is a little update.

If you recall, when the Scissor Side Panel is open, the panel window shows the Quick Release CD thingys very clearly.

I personally think the functions of the quick release is great, but not very pleasant to the eyes.

Here is a picture of the CD quick release mechanism:

So I decided to build a cover to hide the quick release, so here goes. Here is a pic of a piece of alum left over that has been measured and cut.

Here is a pic of the alum piece bent with a rubber mallet for mounting.

Since a plane alum cover looks kinda boring, I decided to use my new dremel to cut a crest.

To finish off the the cd cover and make it a bit more attractive, I covered the opening with orange acrylic and the rest of the alum w/ carbon fiber vinyl.

So there you have the new CD Cage cover. I should be doing more modding this week, so hopefully another update before the weekend.

As always, comments and feedback are greatly appreciated.

That looks sweet. Maybe with the orange acrylic, you could frost the back and ad some leds so you couldnt see the cd quick releases. Again just my $0.02. Keep it up

I reckon you should paint the res to make it look like a NoS tank or something, with fake screw valves and stuff on the top like something like this

one of the tanks on there. That would loook sweet. Keep Up the good work!
Are you gonna put underglow neon on it underneath?
Also, you should set some leds in the acrylic to make it glow.

    Just some suggestions

I just love the acrylic aluminium sandwich! I have some parts made with also the acrylic and aluminium combo, but I'm not sure it will be used in my current project.

    VFD Update

    Hello Fellow BT'ers,

I was able to get my hand on a very nice and bright Noritake VFD. So of course, it had to go into my case. Here are some pictures of the progress.

Here is a picture of the VFD being wired up:

Here is a picture of the VFD with some text. I love how bright and crisp the text looks. The pictures doesn't do it enough justice

Here are some pictures of the CD Bay cover being cut up for the VFD.

The display fits perfectly in a CD Bay cover, but the Board extends beyond it a bit. Luckily, it will not interfere w/ the mounting.

Here is a picture of the unit mounted into the case

This was a little update, short sweet, and to the point.

As alwasy, comments and feedback are always greatly appreciated.
