Hey Bean, that looks pretty sweet. Are you sure you want to fit the HDD cage like that inside the case? I think it would be pretty hard to connect the water tubing to it in that position.

Fantastic work! This is the only CM Stacker project that is worthy of being on bit-tech imho

    Hello Guys,
Thanx for the tips regarding the drill-bits.....I am using the shallowest I could find, but will search for the step drill-bits.....likely to find a place tomorrow or Wednesday ;)

Thanx for all the positive feedback, appreciated.

Wrt mounting the harddrive cage, I will use special headers to plug into the drives, they will be cooled in parallel, again to minimize restrictions......I doubt I will have problems fitting the tubing.....but, I will have to wait and see, once I have the mobo fitted, how far back I can move the drives....

But, the depth perception on photos is a bit misleading, there is actually plenty space. Thand for the heads-up, I will keep it in mind, ReFredzRate!

Ok, a small update again.....I have been steadily improving my front fascia design to include the Fan-o-Matic, and I like the last attempt best....let me know what you think!

The edges still needs to be smoothed, as well as the holes for the 4 buttons.....keep that in mind....

    1st shot....

    and

    and

    another one

    and a last shot....

Still some work left to tidy it up, the most difficult was to get the bends accurate so the fascia is exactly the width of the drive bay...152mm....

It slides in with about 0.1mm clearance...a tight fit, but it looks beautiful in the case.....will post some pics when it is complete....

Modsquad......maybe an idea for your setup? Let me know, I can advise exactly how to compensate for the bends in calculating the bending point.....

Mmmm..interesting name.....maybe I should adopt it? What you guys reckon :) Thanx for the name anyway, Modsquad...very original....hehe

    Br,
    MrBean.

a Quick question regarding the top panel......

I am playing with an idea, to have a 2mm Stainless Steel plate cut to fit the top of the case exactly....it will go over the existing top, and that way I can mount the grill on top of it......

This will then replace the alu/plexi bezel at the same time.........and the Aquacomputer res can then be mounted to this plate, so I have one uniform continious top side?

Maybe even do away with the grill completely, but have that unique pattern laser-cut into the stainless? So the grill forms part of the top plate.....

    Just pondering on the idea.....

One of the best features of this mod just has to be the top panel you made out of acrylic/alu. (It is alu right?)
Besides that, I am spotting a little ledge just above your Fan-o-Matic. Will you make that invisible somehow, or will it stay like this? Maybe you have a little left over alu from the top panel you modded, and stick that behind the ledge.
At the moment that's all I can say about this mod. It's just too perfect to spot any errors ;)

personally, i think u should ditch the faceplate on your lcd, and let the pc board be seen, it looked much better without it, and the gap was not obvious then

I can do this or.....I can make a new faceplate out of alu to replace the old "narrow" fan-o-matic one.......so it will be the same width as the plexi faceplate......Same idea as ReFredzRate has mentioned below.....

Yes, it is alu/plexi, I will probably end up keeping it, it actually breaks the silver a little.....

    Hehe......you guys are baddies...lol....

Thanx to each and everyone reading, and replying/good ideas etc. It is appreciated, and already there are some very good ideas that caused me to change my planning a little.

I will do an update soon, waiting (still :( ) for my new mobo and cpu, will drop off the case at the PowderCoaters on Monday/Tuesday.

After that expect some rapid progress :)

I have designed a little attachment to directly mount the pump to the reservoir, hanging vertically below it.......that way it is easy to feed water to the inlet......

Check this space for some updates in the next week.

Happy New Year to each and everyone, may there be plenty Bling and Ching for you guys :)

    Bling = Diamonds
    Ching = Money

    Very very nice, MrBean.
I'm loving the "layered" effect with the plexi and alu, especially around the hole for the res.
If you beveled the holes for the buttons on the lcd, it would make them alot easier to press.. unless you have something else planned for them :dremel:

    Hi TMM,
Yip, the holes will be bevelled, but.....I am also going to make new buttons, these are to short.....so, I was considering visiting a local Autostyle store, and get those little alu door locks, the ones that sits inside the door right next to the window.....little round alu stalks.....

That will be trimmed down to suit my needs, I will get them prolly Monday and post some shots later in the week.

    c u l8ter.

I'm extremely interested in this project, as I am purchasing a Stacker myself.

Although i don't have the tools to mod my own, it sure is fasinating seeing what can be done to an already cool case :)

    Keep it up :)
