VIA gave me a Nano-ITX board to build something around it. I don't think there are very many Nano-based projects. This is my version.

Since it will be "officially" unveiled at CES next week, I didn't do an official worklog....secret....you know. ;) My construction techniques aren't any different than the ones I used for The Skyscraper Photo PC.

I still have a Pico-ITX project that will also be unveiled at CES. I'm keeping that one a real secret. Anyway....here goes. Please pay special attention to the size comparison shot.

Even if you don't like the style or design, the last shot should make you scratch your head.

Gorgeous workmanship and style. Plus once you see the actual size, it is jawdropping. ;)

Remoted ports? I catch that the VGA, etc are upside down and too far away from the HS that's on the bottom...

The NX-series boards have an Ethernet port ONLY. All the other ports are "remoted" as you say. I used an Ethernet panel pass-through port and a very short cable for the only onboard port

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm here every day. bit-tech is a favorite part of my "tour".

How about that MOTY contest? Hmmmm...I wonder which wooden computer I'll vote for. :D

The new, improved NX-series replaces the NL. The NL-series had Luke Corefusion CPUs that went up to 1GHz. This NX has the new C7 processor at 1.5GHz. 1GB of Crucial DDR2 memory as well. :thumb:

In the photo above, the CPU is the smaller of the two chips.

    Thanks!

Lovely, but you need to do something about the DVD drive, it looks very much out of place in black.

    Thanks guys.

I admit to getting a bit lazy with the DVD drive. Normally I would cut a slot in the veneer and install some sort of mechanical device to operate the eject button. Sounds easy but it is actually a nightmare to pull off well. See my Decomatic HTPC.

Here is an early version of the front button. It is a piece of 1930's black and silver Czech glass that I thought looked rather clever. Rather clever??? Man, I'm watching way too much BBC America. :hehe: Cash in the Attic addiction I'm afraid.

    What do you think?
