Dot_Kappa : the plywood has different meterials on each sides, one is very rough and the other is smooth. and i will use a circular saw to cut the slopes.

Burnout21 : i did something like that, but i only had a crappy hole drill thing, which messed up the back side of the wood a bit.

grritsshawn : because my other project is 3000km away, and for now its too expensive for me to finish it.

tomclancey, LooseNeutral : i can make a small tutorial in the modding section if you are interested. It's not very complicated and doesn't take much time to set up.

now i'm in sweden, but normally i live in switzerland and my other project is there.

UPDATE 3

some days ago i made one of the windows in the side panels.
i used this hole drill thing to get a curve of 20mm in the corners :





sadly i had no drill powerfull enough to use it so i had to do it by hand







worked quite well acctually



then i used my router to cut the straight lines :





that's one window out of seven and yet it's not finished.
looks a bit rough now though...







i sanded it a bit this morning so now it looks much cleaner. i'll post pictures later

UPDATE 3 part 2

i started to by mounting the motherboard tray, which i took from my old lian li v350 :



quickly held in place :



then i screwed it in place :











and with the side panel :


then it was time to make the front holes for the fans, i will use my MNPCtech 2x120 grill as a guide. first i drilled the holes :







using this i made the holes :









a bit burned :S



and now the 3rd hole :













i love this fan grill, it's so awesome

i will use a 120 fan grill from mnpctech on the lower fan too, i just have one yet

Those fan grills are so nice...... I really like the way this is coming together.

 

Looking good! Very nice cuts, too. What type of wood are you using too? It looks like particle board with a black laminate on it.

What! You turned that bit by hand, with a pair of vise grips? How did you hold the top for a straight cut down through the wood? You are a GD Viking! he he he great stuff man! And thanks for tut

 

because then centre is a small drill it locates rather easily and the torque he needed would have been easy by hand.

i always keep a breast drill handy, as i can turn slow with huge torque. My hand drill is lighter and far more useful and powerful compared to a £500 electric crap.

I agree, I hate using electric tools for drilling larger holes, however when I'm just drilling smaller holes for screws and such, I always use my trusty drill-press.

 

I appreciate the simple things as well as the modern. The hammer to the nail, the CAD to the CNC, so to speak. My parents built their dream retirement home a few years ago. A log home. This led me to doing a lot of research into an area I was very unfamiliar with. Though theirs was more of a hmmm. cookie cutter nature home. Milled and pre-fit cnc. I discovered through research the many different cultures who have built them by hand with precision that still makes me smile. Some still build with the traditional hand tools used by master craftsman hundreds of years ago . This is why I follow some builds here closely. A piece of sandpaper, a file, and a pair of vise grips on a drill bit! A hack saw on whatever. Time put in, and loving care to a task at hand. I'm a musician , When I see things like this I see the one who sits at the grand piano with the task of tuning. Each note depends on the next, and all notes on each other. Musically speaking, there is no such thing as true tuning, only the various ways to approach it. And the one playing the instrument! I'm heading to your link now,Thanks! Just went to link?

Burnout21, LooseNeutral : that's true, even thought it was a bit less accurate, it would have been impossible to drill with an electric drill. maybe with a good drill press, but the one i had access to wasn't big enough.

 

That wood probably has other names but i know it as marine plywood, its bloody strong as it is made laying the grain of the wood in alternate directions hence you notice the colour change in layers. great to make work benches etc out of as it will withstand heavy loads.

 

With Finnish plywood that is quite common. Plywood with alternating grain is stock material, plywood with parallel grain is a specialty. Almost all plywood uses phenol glue and is therefore class 3 (Suitable for wet environments). The brown outer layer is a concentrated phenol film. Together with sealing the edges, it makes the plywood fill the requirements for class 3.
