I'm still waiting for my copy of Custom. They promised to send one over... I hope I get it soon.

Well Custom is actually the first mag. But there will be following others in the future.

Tnx for all the nice replys by the way. I think modding isnt really a competition. Its more like art to me. You cant compare a Picasso with a Mondriaan in a competition. So how can you compare 20 beautiful casemods at Cebit? I guess its a very subjective and personal choice, a kind of taste...

    Anyway,

I'm gonna watch my mailbox for my copy of Custom ;-)

    greetz,

There's a clone of HYPERCUBE² (called Hypercube Redux) in the latest CustomPC.
    What's your reaction to imitation?

i havent seen it yet. Ill have to go and get a copy of custom.
But anyway, it still stays a clone ;-)
I hope its a casemod though, not a case you can buy from a compagny

imitation is a big compliment in my eyes :)

    greetz,
    Joungne

ps, any chance you can scan it and get me a copy ?

:eeek: It is almost an exact copy (well, more a cheap knock-off, really)... Ideas are there to be copied but jeez, some originality would be nice...

Nice that he said it was inspired by HYPERCUBE² I guess. I haven't read the whole article yet so not sure how much he did different. Still undecided on when imitation becomes blatent copying, there is a line but it wanders about a bit! But HYPERCUBE² is the original and best :D

Sure in my mag it doesn't say Readers Drives in Ass.... :hehe:

If i were you, i'd be a bit pissed about this, imitation of a part of your project is one thing since there is so much to it, it wouldn't be hard to find many things about it to be used in a different way but he flat out copied the design, and with your case i'm sure the design was a major part of it... i don't see how he can have the gall to smile in that picture...

It still had to take him quite a bit of work to build, and it isn't like there were exact blueprints to work off of. Add to that the fact that he gave credit to the original (this one) mod - I would say smile and be flattered. :thumb:

True, but...who cares? Not to mention that you use "anyhoo" in the next sentence. Pot, kettle?

True, it just seems a bit wrong to get into a magazine for someone elses case design. In my case, (no pun intended) i don't care if people make sangakus for themselves, but i'll be pissed if it gets into CPU or something.
