You should patent the design. Before you know some company has made a ripoff of this case. I wouldn't want to see that happen. And by the way, it's almost as if the flame job is Photoshopped into the image. It's perfectly smooth. I love it!!
Impressive job! I like it too much. The front grill will be in only one half of the bezel? (holes in one half)
great work there, and great designs on your related site. im seeing more and more cars influence mods and i love it. keep up the a+ class of paint work.
Not to get too OT, but he couldn't "patent" that design even if he wanted to. It could be patented: "patent protection is available for (1) ornamental design of an article of manufacture " but the 'deuce' design that he is basing it off of is prior-art. Anyway...awesome looking case thus far, can't wait to see it finished!!
I had an idea for a rat-rod case, but this outdoes anything I had in mind. An amazing job you've done. Out of curiousity, did you pinstripe the flames yourself, or did you mask off for the blue lines?
man, that paint job is THE most amazing thing! i like the fact you pinstriped it yourself, as that shows youve got some serious skills! ive always had dreams of either getting/making a hotrod or a kit car based on either a pontiac GTO or a Hemi Cuda, ideally id have the same sort of paint job, but if i was to make a pontiac GTO kit i would have it Matt Black with White fading to silver Flames on the hood and side panels. If i went the Hemi Cuda route i would have it lime green (anyone seen the punisher?) but id have it dual tone with the rear of the car in black (following the lines of the car) i really wish i could paint like you can, but i suppose youve had alot more practice, as it shows it, youve got skillz, and this casemod displays them! now, lets see what you can do in the pc department!
I had thought about trying to get some hardware donated to display in the case, but the case is being given away as a prize in a contest, so i wont really be the one doing any hardware in it unless intel/amd and some other hardware makers want to have thier products shown in the final photo shoot for the finished project during the contest period. I started in the PC buisness bulding machines for people with specific needs, people who could not just buy an HP off the shelf.. While hardware is fun to fool with sometimes, it tends to be repetitive and very labor intensive when problems arise so i prefer to stick to modding and leave the hardware to the customer who is buying the case. We do however handle all the wiring and lighting and such.
I cant wait to see the paint job after the clear coat, if you decide to go that route. Great job on the flames too!
I have to say, that even before clear coat/grill completion, that case and the paint job look absolutely fantastic! I hope that whoever ends up winning the case treats it with the care that it certainly deserves!
Also, I was wondering though if you were planning on mass producing that evil smiley face fan grill? I'd love to get one of those for my machine.
Thanks so much for all the compliments folks, I really appreciate it. Here are a few more shots with the Controlled-insanity.com logo airbrushed on and the upolstered panel in place. I also started making the thumb screws for the side panels.
