hey klikka, thanks mate the paint wont be there for long, seeing as its approaching the ever good time of powdercoating i cant wait to get it powdercoated as it means i can FINALLY get the chassis together for a proper build up with hardware
The case with the slidey door! i didnt thnink anyone else had one! mine houses a "00 Mhz (supposedly) Cirrix AT thng with an entire 32Mb of RAM! will be interested to see how the HDD Rack goes, should be quite spectacular
i know people... so for me its cheap, cost can be quite high if you find people who dont like small jobs... but sometimes it can be cheap...
You were just itching to throw some pics of your trucks in there werent you . That HDD rack is looking good! Dont know how you can handle that acrylic like such a damn professional. I just DESTROYED the 3mm sheet of Acrylpanel I had for my window, so I am gonna have to order another sheet.
had to pimp my trucks... you did it first!!! **runs and hides** i have no idea how i do it either, its mad, i NEVER thought i'd pull it off, the only thing going through my mind was how bad it was going to fookup! the acrylpanels are just SOOO damn nice to work with, they cut soooo smoothly and are very easy to tap.... im so happy that i managed to pull it off... just hope the same happens for the next few holes ive got to do!
Time for some more work on the HDD rack Soooo although it was VERY strong as just an L piece (unbelievably strong! I couldn’t believe it!) I decided that a brace would be needed, but I always over-engineer things so im going to make 2, 1 for either side of the brace So here is the first brace being made ^ I forgot to take pictures before I made the piece of acrylic for the brace…. Stupid me! – this is a picture of it being lined up ready to be drilled and tapped ^ after drilling ^ a test fit to see what it all looks like ^ clamped ready to finish the brace mounting…. Unfortuneatly I didn’t take a picture of the finished article, but I will do when I do the other brace…. I never thought I could make a hdd holder this fast – especially involving so much drilling and tapping, im happy with the way its turning out…
Finally an update for server the server has been powdercoated for quite some time now, but i just havent got round to updating it the finish is a satin black, i went for satin over gloss as its the internals, and will barely be seen, therefore i didnt want it to be flashy or reflective. The main thing i HAD to do was modify the psu, the damn qtec psu (appauling as it is) was working well, but the fans in it were so loud it made a noticable difference to my room, so the next mod i did was to put 2x 7v 80mm's i had laying around... that just happen to be 80mm green led fans.... ^ what the server looks like without a psu! ^ its not exactly matt, but its not exactly shiny! ^ *vomits* crap q-tec psu ^ lets go swimming in a sea of CRAP! ^ ive seen generic 300w's with more inside! ^ yuck... what a crap fan! ^ new fan = left, old fan = right the new fan is alot quieter @ 7v ^ thats better - i hate fangrills... fans @ 7v dont exactly hurt, so what difference does it make! ^ the current wiring for the q-tec, im not going to sleeve it, thats just a waste of sleeving! instead im going to wait till i upgrade my main pc's psu and use the tagan in server.... ^ back together - but no ide cable ^ mmmm greeeeeen! it greats quite a nice glow! i think i may swap the back fan out for one of these green led fans... theyre quite pimp tbh! well thats pretty much it for this update, at the moment this rig will be on air, mainly because i cant be bothered to do anythign about it, and its quiet enough, but i have installed the rad (yesterday - no pics) and it will work out quite well when i do decide to slap the watercooling in there! take care all
