    Hi,

I currently have 16GB of 1600mhz DDR3 ram (4x4GB)which looks utterly lifeless and boring. Basically stock rubbish from dell.

Am I able to upgrade this with same or slightly faster speed ram sticks of a higher quality that has heatsinks on it etc, like corsair or kingston without having to do any fandangled setting changes in bios etc? Have been looking at the Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) 1866mhz. Appears to be compatible but IdeallyI want to install it and go without messing about with anything else like BIOS, voltages unless its dead simple. Possible?

MOBO is alienware MSI which is an intel LGA 2011 socket x79 i7-4820k

    Thanks

You will need to go and change a setting or 2 in the bios to get RAM running at 1866, but it is very easy. You shouldn't have to change the voltage.
