I haven't played RDR2, probably because I'd never heard of the first one and didn't feel invested. I know it's supposed to be great, so I will get there eventually. Probably.

I haven't played 1 but I played 2. I hated it. Control system that was waaaay to complex, filled with complete bs like killing someone in the middle of nowhere with no witnesses got the sheriff's on your back. You were chastened for killing people, an outlaw train robbin cowboy, and you get frowned on for shooting someone, even if they're a worse person than you. I just wanted to be a cowboy and shoot **** up, but there's just layers and layers and layers of mechanics and pointless mini games. If your horse gets too dirty it starts dying. Seriously. Total waste of time (imo)

You gotta make sweet talk to your mount :nono:

RDR 2 is set before RDR 1. I didn't feel I'm missing anything playing RDR 2. I'm looking forward to a remastered PC release that can run on the Deck.

The first game was much better than the second imho, hopefully they don't overcomplicate it.

Glad it's not just me who was underwhelmed with RDR2 then. I agree, controls are such a pain. Even saving the game is about 5 or 6 button presses, and the controls generally are a massive faff. So much so that I just got bored with it and haven't been back since being about halfway through. Seems a crime to say however, as everyone rates it as the best ever.
