I have a set of bicycle brake levers which I have concluded will look much better shiny shiny polished metal rather than black with SRAM written down them.

Metal wise they appear to be Aluminium which is moving me away from dunking them in caustic soda due to pitting etc.

Any advise on ways to remove it rather than hours an hours of fine sanding?

Wire brush/sanding tool on a drill or dremmel. Wire brush probably better for the nooks and crannies of brake levers.

Oven cleaner. Mr Muscle. I recently removed the anno from a headset spacer.

You can sand it off of course which would probably be faster, but do note do it wet because ano is poisonous. Or wear a mask.

That Mr Muscle looks OK I thought they would all basically be caustic soda, think itll be a mix of the two then. The fact its a foam spray makes it easier the back of the brake lever has a rubber stopper so the gear lever doesn't hit it. Ill upload a photo later of the sanding fun so far.

You go to youtube and you search for "Removing anodising". Then you choose which technique suits you best from all the examples and their results

Dishwasher detergents also contain caustic solutions. One advantage of the dishwasher it rinse the part when done... Down side limited time control.
