With the possible exception of public airways et al, censorship of any kind is bad.

    Also, the game sucks ass.

I dont get it.. they allow movies like saw, the ring and battle royale, but when a game that sounds like it could be somewhat as sick as any of those, its banned..

Basically the violence is fine, it's the hint of sex that killed it.

If the anti-fun lobby can get a crap game pulled then they're only a step away from getting a good game pulled, and then it's civil war.

Well, while I agree that things may escalate, I highly doubt that pulling games off the market will lead to civil wars. =P I mean, who's willing to die for their right to play certain video games?

Sorry, gotta call bull**** on that. Almost all of us believe in censorship of some form. I think we can almost all agree that it should be illegal to publish things like calls for the death of people based on race / religion / ... or child porn (not that I'm calling this game that - though it sounds like it might have been stepping in that direction).

I think that the difference is that games are perceived as being targeted towards children. My 11 year old nephew plays GTA - beating up hookers for cash - how appropriate is that? Blame it on the parents all you want (single father in this case) but kids will find ways to get these games - it's a bit harder (but not much) for him to get into the theater to see those movies.

Cthippo started an interesting thread (link) quoting an article about "'Tweens' becoming the new teens" that IMHO relates somewhat to this.

I do. If the game is bad, sales should have been low, but I need better reasons than those provided so far before I accept any kind of censorship in video-games.

I'd love to find Franco Frattini's email, to tell him what do I exactly think of his "opinions" on video games ([edit]found the contact info: http://ec.europa.eu/commission_barroso/frattini/contact_en.htm[/edit]). Also, I would think that the EU Commision, or Parlament have more important things to think about than video games for adults...but it seems they don't, wich explains many things.

The underlying problem in this, is that it shows again, that we have a bunch of polliticians with no knowledge whatsoever about technology and new forms of entertainment.
