i need some Help ive been building systems amd repairing computers for about 5 year's,

decided to build a complete new system with a dual core 4400x2 ,MSI Diamond Plus MB , Raptor 10k 150G HD ,2 sticks of mushkin RedLine 2 1G Sticks and i have 2 Evga 7800 gt's..soon to be Evga's 7900GT's SuperClocked with a Ultra X2 550 PSU and i have got all the OC worked out and have got good OC's AND THE system seems stable

but it is just not fast i can not figure it out and it is pissing me off when im unraring say 2 3gig games my screen is frozen and i have to open new windows and it is just not real fast takes like 5-8 mins to un rar them...? and sure i can open more stuff and run apps but i tried it also on my 3500 64 system with a 6800gt and it can multi task to and do it to in about the same time...?

Games Crap i get like 25fps in Fear with every thing maxed out and SLI AA 16S.. with the newest drivers from Nvidia Home page but got way better FPS when i went to 7 series forceware but was Crashing my Sytem so i went back to 8. series drivers....

what am i doing wrong....???? should i not be installing chipset drivers or not use the 8 series Video drivers... :wallbash: im always able to firuge this **** out myself with just tweaking with the system's but this time ive tried everything and just am not getting the sytem performance i thing i should be getting from this build if anybody has any idea's please feel free to drop a comment i can use all the help i can get :worried:

Any chance it's throttling due to heat?

well not that i can tell i have C&N Disabled now but i had it inabled and was checking system temps while playing games and all of my temps were low i have real good case vents 2 120MM fans blowing on the gpu's and have the BIG Typhoon on the cpu so i woud think that there would not be a Throttling Problem

Is it a new install of Windows?
And does it list as an ACPI Multiprocessor system in the device manager?

Also, make sure it's not a software problem, instead of a hardware one.

Wellwhat do you expect? I have my 3800 x2 on 2.86ghz (faster than a FX-60) and it still takes time to un-rar large archives. you'll noyice that you'll be able to do more things while un-raring thats the idea of dual core "Do more things in less time" (or something like that )

:eyebrow: what do you expect with AAx16 ? I suppose your playing at a res of 2048*1536 too  But seriously, use some common sense, if your getting low frame rates, lower settings abit (also check that "Soft shadows is disabled, it's more trouble than its worth) (also check the 7900GTX review, it shows FEAR preformance)

p.s sorry if I came on abit strong...

ahh don't worry about coming on strong..... well if i need to be reminded about reality of my system ....ok i do tend to expect more from things when i drop $$$$$....i should have the 7900 GT SuperClocked in 2 day sso i hope that should run better at high setting's...... i race Motocoss and am out for 3 months with a torn ACL .... and have been in front of this comouter for like month now i guess i have to tell myself it is not going to run like my DirtBike :)

Lol, sorry I thought you had Dual 7800 GT's , in that case you expect quite amount of preformance but AAx16 is still pretty evil on a card(s). Also what res do you run ?

    My bad

timothyw9, to each their own. I wouldnt do any such thing - aside from not bothering with the 7900s. WHat do you expect snakekevlar? Of COURSE its going to be slow with 16x Anti Aliasing. What Anisoptric filtering are you running as well? You cant honestly expect to absolutely max out everything - ESPECIALLY with soft shadows - those absolutely murder performance.

ok like i said in a post a few up i tend to expect more from the things i do rather it be racing Motocross or building a computer

i guess i just set my goals to high.... i have been out of computers for a few years while i was buzy with racing and alot has changed i was always used to having the fastest hardware ,now that is not really possible with new stuff coming out like very few month's .....oh and the Anisoptric filtering is also 16x i guess im going to get some more (WHat do you expect ) for that :D

From the context of his post I gather that he suggests selling the 7800s on eBay after upgrading to 7900s to recoup your costs. You don't have to agree, of course. No need to get all worked up.

Youre getting a tad lippy snakekevlar; be a little nicer to everyone, and be less snide. The reason we feel youre being unsensible is because youre spending loads of cash for a slight performance improvement that isnt justified in the long run, with unclear motivations beyond the absurd desire of having the best of the best at all times.

Ok now your not making any sence.. 1st of all we are typing behind a computer and i was not being lippy...so im sure you will take this the wrong way but if i was being Lippy you would know it.

if you or as you said (WE) would have first asked why i was getting 7900's when i had 7800 before saying im spending money badly you (we) would have known i was only getting them because i was giving my 7800's to my brother for his Birthday..

now if i would have bought a pairt of 7800 gt's well then you or (we) could have said you spent money badly and i would have agreed with (we)..and after reading this post it looks like you as well did not read back in my post to were i said why i got 7900 GT's  ...soooo maybe instead of me being a little nicer to everyone maybe you should read the whole post before you post a comment...? telling me how i got the 7900's for a slight performance improvement that isnt justified .... the comment that was made to begin with snide ..... oh and im typing in a non lippy voice... :D
