I was having problems with nothing being rendered except the sky. The latest patch and drivers didn't change a thing, and neither did Vista's compatibility modes.
So I had a play with in-game settings and I found that having the lighting on "crap" mode made it work. It looks pretty... pants, but will do until someone gets things sorted.

I'm having a total mare with performance and this game on my rig.
I can't get over 10 fps it would seem, inbetween long freezes and harddrive activity.
I tried to run it at 1280x1024 which killed my system, I then reduced it to 1024x768 and still It's taking a beating. Naturally I did whack everything at max at these resolutions to see how it went, but I didn't believe my system was a total pansy already?!.....

    Here's a tip:

    Don't use vista.

It's crap right now anyways, unless you enjoy 500mb of ram being used idle.

Just unlucky, your system is plenty fast.

I've turned off the dynamic lighting and that seems to have fixed my lag and low FPS. There is still the major problem of crashes. I've played the game no more than a total of 30 minutes and already I've encountered 7 freezes and crashes which resulted in the system having to be re-booted!
I don't think I can play any game where I have a fear on such a regular basis of it crashing at any point and making have to do it over again.

Think I've found a fix to the random crash on save.
    Working for me anyway.

    1. Turn the graphics to low (mine were on max)
    2. Turn the screen res to 800*600 (mine was 1920*1200)
    3. Do part of a mission
    4. create your own save - Open the console
    5. Type save test
    6. Let your self die (to get to the menu)
    7. While in the main menu put the graphics quality back to max
    8. Also change the screen res to whatever (1920 * 1200)
    9. Then hit load last save

Then just let the auto saves take over. My game hasn't crashed since doing this, Im quite proud of myself lol.

Hope this works for everyone else with crashes at saves.
