Because they want you to buy all of them!
I'd probably go on a shopping spree if it wouldn't result in me getting shanked by my partner.
Gone up 10k since my last comment......
Think we'll be hitting the $13m mark in a few hours.
I would go for the Constellation, via the Rear Admiral pack.
I guess with all this kick-starting... we're going to see a rebirth of the gaming industry with power shifting away from the large corporations concerned with profit before quality. Games like Star Citizen are built by enthusiasts with a genuine desire to create something innovative.
My credit card is refusing to work with PayPal...
I may have to risk setting up a payment to my main bank account and just hope it clears before the money it taken out by PayPal. Either that or purchase the Rear Admiral pack after the deadline and get it without the LTI.
Can't you do a purchase using Amazon as the processor?
Seems to be a problem with my card as the same 'refused transaction' message is being displayed.
I'll have to give my bank a shout in the morning.
Yep, smashed through the $13m mark, just about to hit $13.1m!
Suenstar. I'd be happy to buy whatever it is you are after and gift it to you, you can pay me back via BT?
No worries, I've spoken with my bank and they've unlocked my credit card so I've managed to order it now.
Thanks for the offer though Parge.
Turned out my credit card was near it's limit because I forgot that I'd pledged on a load of kickstarter projects, so the money was locked to prevent it being unavailable at the end of their run.
Just cancelled one that's got 15+ days left so I could buy my ship pack and then re-pledge when I get paid on the 15th.
I've got to stop going on KS, or get a separate card solely for use on there.
2/3rds of the way there! I have a feeling this last third will be the hardest though.
Last third? Is there a target after which the crowd funding will be closed?
I still haven't bought a ship due to lack of funds, so I'm wondering if there's a deadline...
The figure of $21m was originally quoted as the total cost of the game, and the figure they were ultimately aiming for to mean no outside investors.
Right now, if you look on the website you can see the crowd funding tally. The deadline will be when all the Alpha slots are full.
The $15m goal of escort carriers is very interesting. Far more achievable than getting your hands on one of the ten Bengals in the game, and probably a realistic aim for player groups.
How exactly does one go about signing up for the alpha/beta?
When I go on the website and try to, for example, buy the digital scout pack, it still says I'm not given access to the alpha and beta of the game?
The Scout pack doesn't include it, but the more expensive ones do. Cheapest one including Alpha and Beta is the Digital Mercenary, which costs $40 and gets you:
- 1,000 credits
- RSI Aurora ship
- 3 months ship insurance
- Alpha & Beta access
- Squadron 42 digital download
- Star Citizen digital download
So tempted to add a Constellation to my account. Already got Digital Colonel though. Hmmm...
I have decided not to buy any more ships - tempting as it may seem. I will just steal one of yours instead! Bruuuhahhhahhhahhhahhhahhahhaaa!
Dooooooo it! The more Stellas BT has the better!
I've got a 325a and I'm finding it very hard to hold off buying more. Why is it that I want a virtual ship more than just about any other item in the real world?
It's the fact you can't have one if you don't buy it now - it is the same reason I am a sucker for Kickstarter exclusives! Problem is I have already spent too much on this game and it's not out for another year!
