I have recently bought an ICY Box NAS but am unhappy with the performance over my home network and have decided to settle for a RAID'ed DAS eSATA solution. I mainly want to back up my pics so this should do fine. The problem is that i have already transferred some of my files over to the NAS. The 2 drives are formatted in ext3 format.

My question is: will i just be able to take them out of the NAS and put them in the new DAS?

I am thinking of getting the Thecus N2050 DAS.

    Thanks.

    Cyp.

I didn't have any issues when I did that with mine, I just didn't format the drive.

    Good to hear.

What if the new DAS asks to 'set up the RAID' or summin like that?
