    I don't think it will permanently tarnish their reputation, enthusiasts will probably stay away for a while until they sort the problem out. But the Elpida chips have always been considered excellent and one bad batch is unlikely to do too much damage to their reputation.

    I had an entire M/B die on me and then found out that one ran chip was dead too. It was a 2ghz hyperX. This is the first time I have had a hyperx product fail on me, I hope the rma process is not a killer.
