I think most of us really appreciate (and enjoy drooling over) Pookey's amazing D800 samples, so I've decided to start a thread in which those who wish to can share their uncropped, high quality JPEG pictures, straight from camera (minor tweaking permitted).

NB: This thread is not about critiquing the photographer's skill or ability, e.g. it's not about how good the composition is or how well the shot has been set up; it's simply a bit of gratuitous pixel peeping and drooling over some very nice samples from high quality photographic equipment.

    Some parameters before we begin:

    1) use www.zippyshare.com to host full size images but DO NOT HOTLINK - use the file.html link
    2) convert your RAW images to level 12 JPEG using either Lightroom or Photoshop; you may tweak exposure/contrast etc but please do not enhance sharpness
    3) thumbs are not essential but you may post one if you wish, and if you're clever like me you can make a thumb clickable using BB code ;)
    4) please include the following info with your sumbission(s): camera model and lens, and aperture used

    For example:

Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, shot at f/8

    Direct link: Image 1

    or clickable thumb:

will be shooting a few old camera/lenses (including a Carl Ziess) with my 5D2 tonight, it's no Pookey's 36MP, only 21MP.

Awesome - all submissions are welcome. :thumb:

This could also become a very helpful resource thread if people want to compare the IQ of various camera bodies or just see sample images at 100%.

Looking through my 50D images, I have to say it's not at all bad for an old cropper...

Edit - no idea what happened but zippy crapped out on the first image :wallbash: I reupped it so hopefully it'll be fine; otherwise we'll need an alternative file host.

I'm using firefox and currently can access both images with no probs. ;)

    Edit: problem solved.

Problem solved - zippyshare is fine provided there is no hotlinking. ;) George can you please confirm this when you get a chance. :thumb:

It is a discussion thread, after all, so worth keeping. :)

Liking the mental res, Pook's will no doubt be more mad than ever. :D

my interpretation is that it's a thread to show off camera/lens sharpness. (just like the D800 thread)

i got a sharp tree (also in my other thread), zero CA or bluryness throughout, will upload it tonight. although resolution isn't very good, shot as SRAW on a 1GB card

@ Krikkit, no probs - thanks for chiming in. :thumb:

The subject can be whatever you want - I'm choosing photos which I think best showcase the capabilities of my equipment and I'm not a portrait photographer - the demolition was photographed for a newspaper and I tend to take a lot of photos of plant and machinery. ;)

I miss my good lenses, but the Nifty ain't too bad...

Canon EOS 5D, Nifty Fifty II, shot at f/8

Might be worth mentioning what settings these are shot at. Liking the gratuitous sensor porn though. :D

I thought the same Krikkit, but I'm torn between keeping the thread simple and cluttering it with lots of technical mumbo-jumbo. Perhaps submissions should include the aperture because that's the setting that impacts/determines sharpness.

Another submission from my most beloved camera... ridonkulous detail

Looks like zippyshare doesn't allow direct viewing of images larger than 10MB... FFS :wallbash:

Ah well, download the full res if you want to see (same applies to above)

both shots unedited, unfortunately i came back a bit late so had to shoot the CZ lens indoors, hence the high ISO, united shot, so you'll see slight noise at 100%
