And we are back there in Korea on 27th April... On positive note, Red Bull Ring (A1-Ring) is back for 2014, one of the better ones.

I'm hoping that's the last visit to Korea. The track is utterly dull apart from corner at the end of the three straights and the effect it has on tyres. It's just a shame I've lost the knack of falling asleep during races - this would have been a perfect opportunity for 90 minutes snoozing.

They won't get a penalty unfortunately. It was Charlie asking for firefighter car, but a wrong one exited in front of the cars.

It was game set and match three months ago when Ferrari decided the car was good enough and switched to the 2014 car, but that's the Dancing Donkeys for you.

If by "good enough" you mean "probably not good enough, but we can't find any hope of getting Red Bull-matching speed from it without ruining next year, so we'll have to rely on Alonso's huge talent" then yeah, sounds about right. :p

I'm not that bothered about this year now, as already said it's done and dusted. Next year however is going to be incredible, the ERS alone is going to make for some real racing again (160bhp boost for 33 seconds per lap don't forget) but I'm hoping they ditch DRS at the same time.

That more or less describes the last four years of Ferrari F1, bet Montezemolo rues the day he pushed Schumacher and Brawn out for 'the future,' only to watch Brawn wonder off and beat him with someone else's money.

I want ERS and DRS to operate together and only together, but any point in the track. All those spinning wheels and fluffed corner exits would be proper exciting.

No doubt Newy and Vettel would make a car that could corner with the ERS on and the wing open, which would be hilarious.

I only watched the highlight reel this race. I don't feel like I missed much.

The Pirelli hate is getting old now (not here - there's not much of that here - but by the drivers).

Now there's "speculation" of Traction control on Vettel's RBR (I say "speculation" because Minardi and Hamilton made some comments possibly implying something like that, but that's hardly a rumor or proper speculation though. If there was speculation, there would be investigations).

Other than that, there's not much to say. The FIA decided to take responsibility for that fire truck.

I saw the race/extended highlights on the BBC yesterday afternoon - the racing was fantastic. I've long stopped worrying about the winner, and just tune in for the action. Thankfully, there was plenty of it. Having said that, I'm not normally a fan of these double DRS zones.

As to the rumours about RBR's phantom traction control system - I sincerely doubt they're flat out cheating - I'm willing to bet that they do have something, but it'll probably (arguably) lie outside of the current interpretation of banned driving aids. I don't have a problem with that, innovation was once the hallmark of F1 so it'd be nice to see that's it's still alive and kicking. If that is the case, then the other teams will still whine and moan until they can implement a similar system, e.g. Brawn's double diffuser.

Best way to sum it up. It's almost like football now, those with the money will win and have the best back room staff.

With the spec ECU's all being regularly inspected there's no chance that actual traction control is going on, what is happening is very clever torque map control by the Renault/RBR guys.

Current theories suggest it's based on KERS harvesting control during the transition from 4 to 8 cylinder running, smoothing the torque output slightly to keep the profile nice and stable, giving nice predictable grip. Combine that with the best blown rear end in 2013, Vettel's driving style (which suits the blown gear) and 2012-spec tyres that they have the best skill with, and they've got the perfect storm. Singapore was a track that suited them absolutely perfectly, hence how dominant they were.

It could throw up some interesting strategy when trying for overtakes, but for the most part it'll be used in the same (or very similar) places by all the teams. They will already have simulated every lap of 2014 to decide on the fastest usage strategy.

What's going to make next year interesting is the complete redesign of the cars in mechanical and aerodynamic terms. The early races/testing will be fascinating while the gremlins are sorted.

Meanwhile Takuma Sato does this in Indycar :

Result: Franchitti has spinal fracture, right ankle fracture, and a concussion. 13 fans injured, none seriously.

Nasty accident, not Taku's fault though. He gave him room to pass, but got caught out on marbles and severe bumps which pushed him wide into Franchitti's path.

That'd be great thanks. Will tap you up if need any help. my misses has pretty much organised everything already, including booking the camping site. someone she works with has been a few times so helped her book it and gave her a tip on a good place to go for a good view. So totally stoked :-D

That's great! Campingf1 by any chance? Most English folks don't camp at the circuit.
