I've no idea to be honest, she said she booked it direct with the campsite with a few translation problems. lol
Much MUCH better half. Practically three quarters really. And that's on top of the new arsenal home shirt and another 'surprise adventure day' on the 7th december, which i suspect might be the Everton game :D

I know it's only speculation, but it's a thought provoking read, and just the kind of genius innovation you'd expect from Adrian Newey.

Not just AN - he has very little to do with powertrain development, they've a couple of hundred incredibly motivated and talented engineers.

Reading that article on Axis I've actually just got that RCE through the post yesterday, I'll have to move it up the reading list! :D

It is thought provoking (hence me posting).
Sadly, Scarbs probably won't do a rundown of it (anyone else get the feeling that besides his autoblog gig, he's being paid to STFU?), but other teams have surely taken note and are looking into it now.

And yes - it would be the kind of thing you expect from a front-running team (any of them, really)

Scarbs' work is becoming more widespread, mostly behind paywalls of people like Autosport, hence the info in his blog doesn't come for a long time (if at all), by which time it's out of date.

Just to check I've understood it right? Traction control in response to wheel spin is illegal, but it's suggested RB are using traction control in response to shock absorbers compression instead, which is fine?

Not in the spirit of the rules, but legal. Nothing in them rules says how and when the KERS system can be charged during a lap, it's an ingenious use of technology imo.

Suspension-related trickery appears on all the cars, e.g. Mercedes and Renault (sorry, Lotus) spent a lot of time developing interlinked suspension systems to control dive under braking for aero stability; McLaren expensively developed the J-damper for their cars. Both of which are now being copied by the rest of the field.

    Kinda like that, yes.
Not actually controlling traction directly (nor engine output), but rather "stealing" torque from the engine in response to various suspension readouts. It's clever, and without things like that, F1 would be really quite stagnant.

Agreed. My dislike of Vettel aside, I admire what RBR have done.

It kinda seems like the obvious thing to do with relation to traction control. Probably just took a while to effectively develop as measuring the load transfer as the car loses traction is not a simple feat, especially in an effective timeframe.

It's not cheating, like blown diffusers weren't cheating [until they were explicitly banned]... It's creative interpretations of the rules... Newey/RBR just seem to be better/more creative with their interpretations...

Quite! The most difficult bit is creating a sensor/feedback system that can measure the shock travel with sufficient resolution in real-time, and get the KERS system to respond proportionally.

Not only that, but also the logic of it all would need to get quite complex. Simply put: You don't ALWAYS want it on, so it's probably quite a bit of logic there to make it always work as it should.

Well all the dynamic modelling is fiendishly complicated in the first place. Unless that's what you mean.

Yeah, that's what I mean, pretty much.

FP2 is running now, and I am seeing 19 cars still running. Spoon claiming Carbon Fibre.

Very sad news about Villalota, she has always showed a very strong attitude in public since the accident, but it does make me wonder if it's a suicide/overdose.

Back on track, there's no surprise Suzuka is a world-famous and loved track, seeing how many mishaps there were in FP2 just proves how tricky it is to nail an F1 car round there.
