its just itunes thats difficult and when scanning shares from PC/NAS you can only scan the entire partition and not just a folder. - been doing some research on sonos systems so far only hick up I found is all you controllers have to be on the same app version so careful if you use a older phone/pad/ect dont let your friends with a new one log on your sonos if you can no longer upgrade your OS.
I don't think newer versions of the sonos controller are restricted to newer versions of your OS - could be though
according to Sonos forums this is an issue for people using older Apple products that can not update to iOS7, dont know if it applies to andriod users at all.
I can see what you mean from that. I will have to see if my iPhone 3GS can get updated enough. Maybe we should write a little explanation of the sonos products for the front page George?
I've just fired up a Sonos controller on an ancient HTC magic (Froyo) and no issues (the day-to-day Sonos control apps are running on Nexus 5, Galaxy Note and Asus TF700)
That would be my guess (iTunes being rubbish, who'd have guessed). Films always worked but I often wondered if the issue was around the pure volume of music files we have (which is probably bugger all compared to some..) Finances check says......let's do it Last question.....do I run it past the boss lady first or not?? (Thats rhetorical btw. Totally not I feel )
I feel it is my responsibility to say yes to run it past the missus. But I think its a bad idea.... as she'll love using it.
Good thinking Batman - job jobbed I didn't (oops) - I did nearly have a heart attack when we went to the new John Lewis at Home at the weekend and she almost saw what they cost me!
Haha! The missus was standing next to me when we bought our most recent units, as was her Mum. Her Mum wasn't too impressed, but then was totally amazed at how good they are...
I might just about be able to get away with telling her soon - she is impressed but wouldn't have been if she knew the price first!
Nicely done sir I don't know if I'm (a) looking forward to having others over and them experiencing it or (b) dreading it in case the question of cost comes up
After much research and being in a situation where I needed new speakers I have joined the dark side and bought a PLAY 5. Financed by selling my squeeze boxtouch as it is quite popular atm. Sounds great in our Kitchen (got a hifi in the living room ) went for this instead of the play 3 as I like my bass. Sounds great, just trying to get used to having no controls on the device. The misus still shouts at me across the house when she wants the channel changed, when I'm home. Oh and since the access is local and not over a server. I can no long freak out house guests by playing odd music while I'm at work Oh the fun I had with the touch and the nanycam.....
Lol - I'm sometimes tempted to start music playing when I get home but am still outside if my wife's home just to freak her out - haven't had the courage yet! Glad you're pleased with your choice mate
I live in a maisonette, with just a entrance on the ground floor. I have been known to stand downstairs and wait for my wifi to connect then put on eye of the tiger as I run up the stairs.
