Short, sharp, and to the point.

Who can list films that are pretty much universally deemed worthy of their prequel? I'm talking about the sequels that captured the magic of the first film/s and recreated it for the audience. Perhaps the sequel updated things, perhaps it turned the story on its head completely, or perhaps it just stuck to the original tried-and-tested forumla. No matter. Can we get a list of quality sequels going, and let's see if it causes a few dusty DVDs to be excavated over the next few days???

    I'll start:

PREDATOR 2. Slightly different angle, but a damn good sequel. Danny Glover is in excellent form, just before he 'got too old for this sh*t'...

    :thumb:

    Next?

    So far we've got:

    Predator 2
    Aliens
    Godfather 2
    Empire Strikes Back
    Kill Bill Vol. 2
    The Naked Gun 2
    The Dark Knight
    Die Hard 2
    The Bourne sequels
    Lethal Weapon 2
    Toy Story 2 & 3
    Rocky IV
    Blade II
    Mad Max II
    Gremlins 2:The New Batch
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
    Beverly Hills Cop 2
    Terminator 2
    Chronicles of Riddick
    LotR
    Sean Connery James Bond movies
Back to the Future Part II
    Hannibal Rising
    Jaws: The Revenge
    Ghostbusters 2
    Rambo II
    Superman II
    Rocky II
    Harry Potter sequels
    Pirates of the Caribbean sequels
    Mission Impossible 2
    Iron Man 2
    Hell Boy II
    28 Weeks Later
Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit
    Mr Bean's Holiday
    Shrek films
    Spiderman films
    Short Circuit 2
    Back to the Future III
    Bad Boys 2

    TBC?

    Kill Bill Vol. 2

The Naked Gun, all three were brilliant

    The Dark Knight

Oceans trilogy, I liked all of them.

Die Hard, again, all of them were good.

    The Bourne trilogy

The Matrix (though many seem to disagree)

Die Hard 2 (Not as good as the first but still awesome)
    The Dark Knight
    Lethal Weapon 2!
    Toy Story 2
    Bourne Ultimatum
    Rocky IV
    Blade II
    Mad Max II

Can Desperado be considered a sequal to El Mariaci? Definitely on the list if so.

    Gremlins 2:The New Batch
Both of the TWO Indiana Jones sequels (and there are ONLY two before anyone mentions fridge ********)
Evan Almighty (gotta be honest and say i preferred it)
Police Story 3:Supercop (not as good as 1 of course but way better than 2)

Chronicles of Riddick - Much better direction and plot than the fir.....no, i just can't finish that with a straight face

Well the LOTR series aren't technically sequels. But one long Movie. Still good though.

Lots of good movies already listed, so I'll add The Transporter trilogy, all good action flicks, about as good as the Die Hard series imo.

Another awesome collection imo, are the old Sean Connery James Bond movies, even though he had the completely wrong accent for the job, and even though they were all a little cheesy, they were pure Cheesecake

I'd like to see Tarantino make a sequel to Pulp Fiction, that would be epic imo. His Kill Bill trilogy were awesome.

Well Matrix 2 was good, and Matrix 3 was okish, it's just that I don't think their plots have anywhere near the same cool factor about them that the original had, which I think is what make the sequels seem like they do not belong.

Toy Story 2&3. Can't really think of any other proper SEQUELS that were good. LOTR was ofcourse excellent, but that doesn't count... And even then the second film was the weakest.
