Ok its been a long time coming i know but eventually found a bit of time to semi finish this Wavemaster project or at least get it to a standard that looks semi finished and it now takes pride of place as the main workstation in my office 8)

It was a 9800XT purchase that spurned me into action.........the card remained with its stock cooling less than a day partly due to its extreme heat (67c) and secondly my inherent desire to take things to bits :D

On opening the Hercules box i could see immediately its shiny potential (yes I have a shiny fetish but we'll keep that for a different forum lol) with the big copper heatsink on one side so it was straight off with that and over to the buffing wheel........voila.....one shiny heatsink and to the other side i strapped a red DD Maze4 (in keeping with the card) for some extreme watery goodness.....yeeehaa!

Anyway onto the Wavemaster and more specifically the big piece of billet aluminium that serves know other propose than to....... well to look like a big piece of billet aluminium so i also attacked that with me trusty buffing wheel so now at least it looks like a nice shiny piece of billet aluminium that doesn't do anything other than to look nice and shiny

Globalwin obviously heard of my shiny fetish and kindly made me a chrome 520watt super silent (22db) PSU.....very nice so all that was needed there was a quick cable braiding exercise with one of our UV green Techflex braiding kits and to finish it off some nice UV green Molex and ATX connectors.

That's about it really so here a run down of spec followed by some pics!

errrr......you can probably guess what i been doing tonight but just in case you can't here's a few pics :)

olv........i never got a chance to run it any other way apart from running a WW with a 1048 pump which gave good value for money at around 38c......
I got WW, Z-Chip and Maze4 running off a 1250 at around 41c but i'm sure some of the increase is off the 9800XT that run damn hot (no likey)

pauldenton.......yeah i sold my last polished Maze4 GPU so it was the best i could do......got me a SS Cascade coming so I'm hoping I can get a silver northbridge and GPU block knocked up in keeping with the case :thumb:

Nexxo......seriously man I tried always to fit one in but the alu is just so thick (18mm in the middle) i just couldn't do it..................oh and yeah, you gotta get a buffing wheel. And a metal mill. And... :D

But will it stay shiny? Have you treated the surface with anything horrible?

Looks nice mate, makes the wavemaster almost bearable :D

New French Connection T-shirt slogan: "FCUK grey boxes". :D

That looks soooo good! Overall it's a brilliantly executed case.

I figured it might be a solid oblong. You could, possibly, make a hollow display surround of exactly the same dimensions as that oblong. Or if you know someone with a metal mill (again, man I just gotta get...), see if you can hollow the thing out from behind...

Oh, anduh... Polishing an MCP600 pump yet? :D

/......must of had me David Bailey head on over the weekend and came up with a few more shots of me finished Wavemaster plonked on the pool table which seemed like a good idea at the time :D

I think it should stay shiny as all the aluminium polished blocks i've made have all stayed the same!
