I started taking pictures of water dripping from the tap, using Panasonic FZ28 most 1\640 with tripod, ambient light plus weak flash: I'm new to this so bear with me:
those are some nice shots. Try taking a shot of the drops hitting a plate or something flat with a little bit of water in it already.
Bit of a quick and dirty shoop, but I think it reflects what I would change: If you put the flash lower down, you wouldn't have the shadow to worry about, which I think takes a bit of the focus from the water. Decent pictures overall, but if that is an option, I would give it a shot.
