Good lady is just off to her sons for Christmas dinner.
I can find nothing to watch on TV.
I have a PC to move into a new case and mobo.
Figured out how to simply stream my music to videos to my TV.
I have a bottle of vodka.
    Vodka and music videos win.

renovation almost done, gotta sort out fitting of the new ceiling light as well as light switch, need to go shopping for a new blind as well as a cable management solution for under the desk and then I'm done.

was hoping Santa would bring me a new keyboard but alas not this year :( least I'm back online and working again.

Make sure you're sober for at least some of your time off mate, want to remember some days off before you're back to work. :)

Getting more of a grip on the Alienware, pretty nifty little machine, just a shame the GPU is locked down tight so I can't fiddle with the clocks on it. (Seriously, anyone can figure this out; you are a better man than I.)

It happily runs Dark Souls 2 while on battery, and when plugged in it can comfortably manage most older games without a hiccup, and newer games when dialled down a bit.

Ultimately; it's still an AMD R9 M390x/M295x (Same thing!), so there's a pretty hard upper limit on how much power I can throw at a game, still chuffed for the price I paid total including new parts.

my first mechanical keyboard, feels nice to work on as well as sounding ace, just gotta get used to feeling like my left hand is too close to the edge of the board having come from an ageing and tatty G15.

the 22HD would be my best guess going on the size relative to everything else and the # of buttons...

They've had so many models over the years I can never keep track - That would make sense though.

How dare you, that is not the British way of doing things. We are suppose to accept being ripped off by doffing our caps, bowing and thanking those that would rip us off profusely.

How did your renewal quote compare to doing a new business quote with the same insurer?

That's how we ended up doing it (after I mentioned chatting with some meerkats while on hold with the insurance company). Quote dropped from £420 to £283 fully comp.

Always, always get a new business quote from your current provider, as it'll invariably be less than the renewal. Even if you don't shop around anywhere else, do this.

I would say it's a pretty good bet to phone up and argue ANY renewal price - be it TV/internet provider, car insurance... Heck, even things like 0% balance transfer rates on credit cards can be haggled with if you're brave enough to get on the phone.

I got an extra 8 months of zero interest on my MBNA credit card by calling and telling them I could transfer it back to my Barclaycard. When I was with Admiral for my car insurance, the nice Welsh chap was all too quick to tell me about the generous "loyalty rewards discounts" I was eligible for (but weren't applied to my renewal quote). The ONLY company I've ever had an issue with was 3 mobile - that bloke was ADAMANT that the deal he was offering me to extend my phone contract was the best currently available, even though I was literally looking at a screen with better deals while on the phone to him. He even resorted to saying things like "they will increase that price after you've signed up" - completely unawares to the new laws that allow consumers to exit from contracts if the price changes.

Oh, absolutely, but if you can get a cheaper quote from your existing provider as a new business quote than as a renewal, it gives you a stronger position from which to begin negotiations :)

I'm about to head into town to pay off my mortgage. Happy days!

...'course, we're now looking at upgrading to a bigger house, which will put me right back on the treadmill again.
