The first computer I owned was a C64, complete with tape drive and later disk drive. And an Okidata dot matrix printer. I actually still have that C64...though I'm not sure it still works. Might have to check that out....

My first ibm compatible was a Packard Bell 386. Ran at a whopping 33MHz  It had a 20 MB harddrive and 1MB of RAM. No windows...only DOS 6.22 baby! I later traded it to a guy for a 75 gallon aquarium with all the fixin's and some fish. But that computer was enough to get me totally hooked.

I had the c64.. After waiting 30 minutes for the tape to load, the games almost always crashed somehow :sigh:. And if i died, i had to reload the level from tape.. Took ages. I remember those colors flickering across the screen as the games loaded.. When i was about 15, i got a P120 with 8mb of RAM, which i later upgraded to 40mb, and my friends were like: OOoohhhhh! Thats alot of RAM!!!

I started with a 2nd hand 48k Speccy in the early 80's (Sold on)

Then I got my first job & bought one of the very last BBC Micros (Sold on)

After a while came an Acorn Archimedes A3010 (which got maxed out on RAM & a HDD) (passed to family)

My last pre-built comp was a RiscPC Strongarm (Still got - Still runs)

My first PC was a PIII 450MHz with 128Mb RAM, 12Gb HDD, & Voodoo 3000
This then evolved into a 800MHz Duron (O/C to 1GHz) with Geforce 2MX
Now running the machine in my sig.

All the PCs are actually the same one at different stages of upgrade, with the bits sold on to friends.

I bought an old third hand 186... 32 meg hdd, 5 1/4" floppy, keyboard, 640k of ram, 8 bit ISA video w/ printer port. and a yellow screen :geek:
    then I got a fourth hand 486sx33
then I got a P4 1.5GHZ... I loved that machine... I never thought that kind of godly power was possible.. all the stuff I was missin...
Then I got a p3 600 for a webserver, and an amd k6-2 350 for free as a test machine... and several pentium class computers.
    Then I got my P4 2.4c and oc'd it to 3.33GHz.

oh.. and does a 144MHz palme Zire 71 count???

First was a Sinclair ZX81, then a BBC.

The first proper PC was a secondhand Sperry 386/16 with 20 meg HDD, 640K RAM and EGA graphics. I actually managed to play X-wing on that!

    Cheers

The first computer that we had that I was allowed to go on (I was about 7) was a huuuge Compaq Deskpro 486 50mhz with 16mb ram with Win 3.1 which was later upgraded to Win95. After that I got my own PC (second hand) this was a Pentium 75mhz with 20mb RAM :jawdrop: .

Then we got a Celeron 466 about 4 years ago which is now my linux box. I have since built my own PC and a PC for the family - my specs: AMD Athlon XP2400+, 512mb PC2700, 80gb Seagate HDD, crappy GeForce 4.
If you read all that then you are probably extremly bored so I will shut up now!

My first computer was a commodore VIC 20 way back in '81, I think still in junior school anyway, followed by an atari 128xl then an amstrad 464 then a brief hiatus with consoles of varying types before getting back to owning rather than just using PC's with a PII350 on a bx board then through sevaral upgrades to my current 1800 xp running at 2.4 gig on an nf7-s with a gig of 3200 and 360GB of dmax 9's in raid 0!

First ever used was some 286or 386 lappy... Toshiba T1200XE

First one that was mine in around 91 92... was a Compaq Portable II... and like hell was it portable..... but it was my pride and joy even though it wasn't all that great....

then we got some 486 malarkey from a company called escom... which promptly went out of buisiness... then I got a manic hunger for taking it to bits and reassembling it and such....

then I progressed through freebie processors and such to upgrade... then I went through a LOOOOONG stream of lappies....

    all tosh..
Some old one which was a... T1 something... old but good... P1mmx <.5gb hdd...
then a Tecra 500...(I got a couple more of these too...)
Satellite 4010CDS best lappy i ever had at that time....
    Libretto 70CT and 110CT
    Tecra 520
    Tecra 8000
    Tecra 9000
    then back to the 8000...

and also my POS Duron 800 *sigh*... sadly my main machine... (kept holding on for the 64bit kit to come out... now I'm waiting to afford it.)

First computer I ever used was a 386 33Mhz (when it was new, it rocked cuz it had it's own Math Co-processor!). Used to play A10 Tank Killer and the various Sierra Quest Games (Kings Quest, Space Quest, later Hero's Quest).
    Then my dad replaced it w/ a 486 66Mhz.
Then to Pentium 120 (later to become the first machine of my own).
Then to Pentium-II 233Mhz (took this one to college, rocked some games w/ my Voodoo3 PCI).
Then got my Athlon 'K7' 500Mhz (upgraded to 850 Mhz a year later).
Then got my Athlon64 3000+ a couple weeks ago!

I still have the 850Mhz (fiancee' uses it)
And I have the 233Mhz (affectionately named dumbs**t)

My first was a ZX81. Didnt you just love the heat sensitive printer paper. Those printers were a bloody health risk lol. I dont remember how many times it jammed and i got burned unjamming it.

BBC model B - such fun programming games in BASIC

Amiga 500 - soon upgraded with the 1/2 meg upgrade.

    Looong break
