    Howdy folks,

I've decided the first part of the computer i'll buy will be the monitor as using my TV as one for my laptop (backlights have gone) is getting a tad strenuous on the eyes in long gaming sessions.

Unluckily I work for Tesco, Luckily this weekend however i'll be able to get 20% discount on things instead of 10%, so I thought it might be an option to buy the monitor from there, as with Quidco savings to I could save rather a lot.

After a quick look I noticed this http://www.tesco.com/direct/hp-2311...-black/212-7116.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=212-7116

Looks very snazzy but the info is a bit crap, and confusing as it comes with HDMI input, though the leads it comes with are VGA and DVI-D, so guessing there's a mistake there or it uses those nifty changer cables (not so nifty for the VGA "without an expensive box of tricks" I read on here somewhere).

If theres anychance anyone could have a quick look on the website for any good quality monitors that stand out around 120 quid maybe 1920x1080 (though if higher for a little extra money wouldnt mind) no more than 150, I would very much appreciate it (obviously a good monitor at lower than 120 would be epicness :))

Here's the link to the site: http://www.tesco.com/direct/technology-gaming/monitors/cat3374846.list?catId=4294960204+4294957697

This is quite time sensitive mind as I only have the increased discount for the next 2 days.

    Thank you all <3

Sorry for posting again, but there had been quite a few views between the making of this thread and this comment, if this is still unacceptable, please accept my apologese and inform me so that I may not do this again.

I've noticed this back to school deal samsung are doing and it applies to this monitor aswell as many others, it seems 100 quid for a 144 pound monitor is obviously a better saving and it's overclockers so probably a better price from the get go, does anybody know if this is a good monitor and whether it would be acceptable for an i5 overclocked gaming rig with a radeon 7950 3gb or gt660ti gpu?

Any and all advice or info anyone could give me would be massively appreciated.

Also, If anyone can give me any info on Samsung SSD's I'm thinking it would be a good idea to get that to as 50 pounds off an SSD is crazy town.

You are asking a very difficult question.
    - Reviews are virtually non-existent for these monitors.
    - They are all ultra budget monitors.
    - They are all the same specs and feature wise.

If you had 180pounds AT LEAST (and even then, that's like borderline), now we could see into something. Maybe a med-high-range TN panel or an entry level IPS panel.

I don't know what Tesco is, but if its a retail store, than have a look at the monitors that fits your budget, and see which one you like better.

Cheers for replying bro, this has given me some good perspective,

I need to be careful what I say considering I've said I work for them but, they tend to sell 3rd party merchandise for TV's etc which in my opinion are lacking in quality build wise.

I would hazard to compare them to your Walmart.

I can't afford more unfortunately, but I only need this monitor to last a couple of years until I can splurg on a beast of one, I don't like going half assed, I'd rather get a temp fix until I could get the best possible later on than settle for a mediocre peice of hardware that i'd be stuck with.

I trust samsung as a manufacturer for quality, even their budget stuff lol, while I massively appreciate graphics, I don't need them to be crazy immense to enjoy my games fully, and even the cheaper model below that samsung I linked has had 4 beaming customer reviews.

TBH I'm probably a bit biased toward them now as my favourite ever and current phone is the Samsung galaxy nexus, I love it so, even when I dropped it and cracked the screen everything else still worked perfectly a 4 foot drop on to solid stone tiles shows build quality lol.

But thank you, and I will check out those TN monitors you spoke of before I finalise my decision, but youve got to admit, 100 quid for a monitor, not bad, and low enough in cost to warrant the risk of not lasting more than a couple years (has 3 years warranty anyways).

EDIT: Just found the samsung I linked on ebuyer for 170 quid 30 pounds more than overclockers making me think I'm getting a pretty good deal, 170, vs the 100 i'll actually pay, and shows through this link more customer reviews on image quality.

Think this could be a big winner on the side of budget monitors, will post a review of my own once I get it, in this thread.
