Tomm nailed it right there. I thinking about games which do not support widescreen modes and I don't want them looking stretched and weird. Not to mention the lesser quality running a lower resolution on a panel which is natively 1650x1080 (or whatever the actual number is).

There's a fix available for a lot of games to run natively in widescreen resolutions here.

I was looking at the Sammy 215 but then started to read up on the Dell 2007WFP (20" widesceen). It uses a LG 8 bit S-IPS panel that is simply amazing (same ones that are used in the Apple monitors). Next to my old Viewsonic that uses a TN panel the S-IPS the colours look so washed out its unreal that i hadnt noticed them before. The Dell's stand is also fully adjustable like the 215.

Got my Dell for £200 delivered off ebay, only 4 months old.

ps this webby is very useful for checking out what panels are used in TFTs: http://www.flatpanels.dk/panels.php

I've got Dell 2407WFPs on my desk...3 of 'em. I absolutely love them. If you watch a bit, you can get them rather cheap. I picked mine up for $235 a pop

I got a sammy 226 about 6weeks ago. Really like it, good pic and very slick looks. Would recommend and can be had for just over £200 with abit of googling.
