Hi, I took the plunge this afternoon and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit - to dual boot alongside my 32-bit Windows XP Home. Everything went fine, except for one thing - no sound! I've got a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card. However, I couldn't install the drivers, either from my original install disc or from the website - they do not seem to be incompatible with a 64-bit edition of Windows 7 (or so it seems). Nor could I install the Realtek High Definition drivers, I just get the message - "No driver was supported in this driver package". I've tried downloading & installing loads of different version of RealTek from numerous sites, but always with the same result. Any idea as to what can be done? Thanks, DANNY
I'm running 7 with sound with an Xtremegamer using the 2.18.0015 drivers from here Edit: but use the second ones down, the first ones are for Vista.
The driver on this page is said to support Windows 7 64-bit. Have you tried this one yet? Also have you tried updating to SP1 in Win7? Does onboard audio work ok? http://support.creative.com/Downloads/searchdownloads.aspx?filename=SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0013.exe EDIT: Snap
Ok, Even though I'm pretty sure these were the drivers I was trying to install, I will give them a go - wish me luck! Thanks, DANNY
You may have to right click the .exe files and choose run as Administrator. I've had this issue when trying to install several programs in Win7 and its given me errors. Let us know how you get on!
Your X-Fi is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. Heck my much older X-Fi Xtreme Music (discontinued since a long time) has drivers for it. If it doesn't work, try the older version. Creative is not renown for any of their driver skills. These ones: http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=11478
