Multi Witcher remake

Anyone want to see "The Witcher" remade in Unreal 5 by CD PROJEKT RED?

I read the gog.com forum comments following on from this announcement and whilst I have no feeling either way as I haven't started the series yet, there did seem to be a lot of doubt and negativity flowing. Mainly along the lines of "don't mess this up or change things materially".

I suppose a fresh coat of paint is always nice, especially to reach a new audience, but new IP is better.

 

Maybe they'll recast the main characters half way through

 

If anything needed messing with materially, it's OG Witcher. The setting and plot were interesting but the gameplay was a bag of spanners. Not very many spanners either. Mostly an empty bag.

Witcher 1's content with Witcher 3 level mechanics would be lit. But as a studio they can't win. The fans will cry: They changed it, now it sucks! and It's the same, now it sucks! Usually at the same time, and regardless of the extent to which the work is actually changed.

 

Adored W1 on release, would have no qualms about a remake - I'll never play the original again so with all new mechanics I'd be all in favour if the original story was left pretty much intact.

I remember the controls being a bit janky but not disliking then tbh.

It was on the back of W1 that I made my one and only preorder of a game in W2.

Wonder if they'd keep the cards in the game?

 

Was pretty cringey for me - "you banged this hot chick in cleavage-heavy corset armour, have a card for your collection!"

If I'm remembering it right. I haven't played it in ages. I'm not averse to smut in games - far from it. But it had a very pandering-to-12-year-old-boys vibe.

that's not gonna happen when you literally got an achievement on W3 for banging all the whores in the brothel...

 

That was different though, you didn't get a badly drawn playing card to keep your bang tally.

You know what I actually forgot that you had to do that. I must've got the achievement as I think I'm only missing the beat on super duper hard or whatever it is that I was saving for the graphics upgrade (still not tried that yet).
