My worst car is definitely my first - '95 Micra - allegedly 54bhp of Japanese sewing-machine fury, flat white, no power steering or windows, no central locking, no CD player, no rear windscreen wiper, interior made from recycled biros. Car involved in major crash resulting in headlights being reattached with cable ties; other side-effects included misaligned suspension. That meant a seriously asymmetric turning circle - smaller on the left than the right, and near-unrecoverable dives to the left when braking hard, and utterly unrecoverable lunges to the right when brakes were released. The bonnet was flattened at the front; during my driving test the examiner halted the car, got out, and attempted to force it open to check that it wasn't going to snap up and smash the windscreen. Maximum speed attained (closed course): Indicated 105mph. At this speed, vehicle exhibited rapid and apparently random weaving action; bonnet bounce also worrying. Maximum passengers carried (closed course): Seven (two up front, three in rear seats plus one across their laps, and one in boot). Also probably the most fun I've ever had, I miss it every time I can't break traction round roundabouts in the MINI.
My fathers Laguna V6 actually started off very nice, until 2.5 years (~80k miles) in and the gearbox started to bounce between gears (literally 15 foot jolt like being kicked in the back) and the drive shaft almost fell out. At certain revs it would vibrate the **** out of the car. Also the brakes decided they wanted to act up after we came back from sledging down a welsh mountain. :/
Worst one I ever drove was when I was in the cops in S.A. and it was a Honda Ballade when they just came out. Hence it did not last long and they replaced it with a Nissan Skyline 3.0 now that was a car
The van thing, well I've driven my fair share of vans, and they all are garbage. Mind you it's quite practical, but still utterly garbage. Too bad there aren't any clios stateside.
I drove a transit when we moved a few months ago and it was actually awesome to drive! Very easy and comfortable... Not sure you have those in the states.
Buick Rainier, handles like a f*cking brick, absolutely awful automatic transmission, ridiculously touchy accelerator, weak brakes, overly cushy, seasickness inducing airbag suspension.... I hate it
not driven very many cars but the worst one i have driven is the nissan micra 1L mk3 it felt like it had a gearbox made from plastic and the engine was so small that going 60mph down the dual carrage way in 5th gear it was doing 4,000 rpm didn't dare go near 70mph would have blown the engine best car I have driven is a 1999 audi A6 and I still drive it, it has done 190,000 miles lol and is the most reliable car in the world. Only thing new it has needed is a new turbo and that is it. brilliant car, comfortable to drive, got some power and is much better than my mums Mercedes A class which is the second worst car I have ever driven
Vauxhall Agila, don't need to explain myself. Talking of van's I have a renault kangoo for the dog, but it makes me appreciate my car so much
Vauxhall Cavalier Mk4. Just the dullest car I've ever driven. Always a danger of slipping into a coma behind the wheel of one of these. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Also a Micra, but an '83. The couple of Fiat Punto's I've driven have been pretty s***e too. Had an Agila as a hire car in Majorca. Wasn't too bad; certainly better than any of the three above. Zero grip with those bicycle tyres though, then again it is a rebadged Suzuki R-Wagon made for urban use only, not dusty Spanish country roads.
I haven't driven that many cars. But the two worst that I have been in would be the PT Loser (cruiser) that we got as a temporary car, and my college roommates '96 BMW 326. The PT sounded horrible and had horrible brakes. The BMW gave the worst ride ever.
Oldsmobile cutlass sierra. Nothing wrong with the car per se but it's definitely the most boring and unsporty car i have ever driven. Even my banged up 1991 accord was a thousand time better Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Did you get to drive the MHD version? Really annoying - the stop-start technology kicks in constantly, and takes ages to re-engage - making roundabouts dangerous places - foot on the accelerator and nothing happens for 3 seconds (until the engine starts again)! Having said that, I haven't really driven any truly horrible cars - the most disappointing was probably the Nissan Note that I rented about 6 months ago, the 1.4 engine was a bit gutless on the motorway and the car just wasn't a particularly nice place to be.
I had a rental Pontiac G5 once. I hated that car with a passion. It's a similar body style and probably same engine(not sure) as Chevy Cobalt. There was so much throttle lag, I could usually count to 3 before I felt much movement. Had lots of horns blown at me for that. Maybe it comes down to being a rental with transmission issues though. It never seemed to be able to decide what gear was appropriate either. Handling was horrible as well. Sound system sounded like tin cans might be playing something that resembles a song. I was actually hoping for someone to hit me again so I could get a different car.
A 1975 Lada that belonged to the Dad of my then girlfriend (Linda Scizacowski). He lent it to me because my 1972 Viva had broken down on New Years Eve and we were due at my parents to see in the New Year. Some years later I owned a speedboat and I swear the steering on that was more responsive. As far as commercial vehicles are concerned, around 1973/4 I used to drive a small Bedford van (based on an HA Viva) that was lethal on cross-ply's. Ended up putting one on its side, clearly not amusing the bosses who decided that my talents lay elsewhere.
Only ever driven my current car (which I'll tell you about) and a BSM Fiat 500. The Toyota Yaris I'm driving at the moment has 106K on the clock, a single hubcap, a bumper with all the paint scraped off (washed off actually but it looks like it's been scraped), a massive rip in the divers seat, no CD player, no digital radio, a reluctance to gear down into 1st gear while moving and a tiny 1.1 litre. On top of all that I share it with our au-pair and yet I still enjoy it quite a bit although I do have to plaster my foot to the floor 80% of the time to get anywhere (petrol is only £40 a tank too and that lasts for a few weeks).
wow, that is so ass backwards to me, I pay about $40 US to fill the tank on the Toyota Highlander that is my daily driver, and I'm sure it has a bigger tank than the Yaris, and that only lasts me about 4 days I want my rental Jetta back....
