Graphics Worth going from 8800GT to HD 5770?

    will i see a big improvement in graphics if i upgrade to an hd5770 from an 8800gt in games like dirt 2?

    does the dx11 stuff make that much of a difference?

    Substantial difference in performance. DX11 doesn't make much of a difference IMO though.

    Yes, but I suggest to wait. Nvidia will release their new GPU later this month, and ATI prices should go down to compete.

    I agree he'll see a massive improvement. However, as he's running Vista, not Win7, Dx11 is a moot point?

    Vista has DirectX11, it's under Windows update. I think it's part of Vista SP2 if not, you'll get the update after you have SP2 installed.

    Like DirectX 9 is based on DirectX 8, you can upgrade the OS.
    DirectX11 is based on DirectX10, so you can upgrade.

    Nvidia are rumoured to release this month, hence waiting a few days or a week might save some cash as the price wars start again.

    nvidia is only releasing their top 2 parts and it will most likely be limited availability so you probabily wont see any price drop on 5770s

    not in the HD5770 price range. maybe if you were thinking of getting a 5850/5870 you should wait but not anything cheaper

    I hate it when people keep saying they are going to wait to see if something new is coming out soon when they could be waiting forever, never happy with current technology!

    Or then you could stop being so dramatic when this time it actually makes sense. It's one thing waiting for an affordable SSD and one waiting two weeks to get some competition for the Ati cards.
