Are you sure it was a GTX260 you saw with the 6pin and 8pin connectors ? If it was the GTX280 it would have the aforementioned power req's.

However i also remember CustomPC previewing a card and said that the connectors would be changed at launch, not sure how this is completely relevant since i'm not even sure if that card was a GTX260 though.

Well I thought it was about the 260, but I must be mistaken, because I think the higher models have the 8 and 6.

I must have just skim read the title of the vid =/

The specs says minimum 500watt, and I'm 20 out, but then again I might be OK because I will only be playing FSX and BF2 at 1440 x 900 so maybe not maxing out the cards power demands.

I'm just not sure. Maybe I will wait a little longer and see what happens when the next gen cards come out in a few months... Also looking at the gts250 and the 9800GT now as well.

I've seen a 9800gt for £65, then maybe I can get a new MB as well then.

    I'm confused :duh:

What about the new ATI 4770? I'm quite sure that is the way to go for you

I did consider it but I would like to do some folding as well. Also the 4770 is not quite as fast as a GTS250 but they are a similar price..

According to the tests it depends on the game, I say they perform equally? Also overclocks quite well!

Ordered a Biostar TP45 lastnight from scan and a refurbished 8800GT with 1gb from videocardshop.

Should be here tomorrow or Thursday hopefully.

I'm well chuffed, can't wait for it all to arrive, hopefully my e6300 will overclock well. Can only go upto 294fsb on my asrock MB at the moment.

Adam good news about the gtx260, I was so close to getting one myself, I'm sure you will be very happy! :thumb:

Good luck with the OC. I'm sure sure you'll get it quite a bit higher then previous. They are pretty good chips to mess about with.

Why not eh? I'd be interested as I have the E6400 on a Rampage Formula and they are very similar chips. It was only my first overclock so I'm sure there's plenty of room for improvement but I've managed 405x8 with idle temps around 41c using an ACpro7.

    All the best,

    Simon

    OK as requested

so far i've reached 400fsb x 7 e6300 running at 2.8Ghz. I have been folding all night and the temps get to a toasty 70 celcius, so I think I'll leave it there until I get a new cooler. My ram is only 6400 so looks like that needs changing also if I want to go any higher.

    :D
