Sounds like it's running to rich. See if you can find the manual and it should tell you how to make it leaner. Either that or take it to your local hobbyshop and ask them nicely to tune it for you. Offer them £5 - £10 to keep them sweet. :thumb:

olv, besides running too rich, your pipe looks a bit short for 1/8th off-road (not 100% since i don't know your motor). most tuning issues are due to (not in any particular order):

    1) lack of skill
    2) wrong nitro or oil ratios
    3) crankcase or carb air leaks
    4) pipe length

since we're on the subject, i might as well post some of my r/c cars :):

Ofna Ultra Worlds 1 (Super Force P6 0.21ci, various upgrades)

My favorite racer has won many local races (B3FT - stock class):

the Verbot and P4 box provide a good scale reference for bit-techies.

    HPI RS4 electric touring sedan
Kawada SV-10 electric touring sedan (was still competitive with it in my one outing last year!) - have several different bodies for it
    HPI RS4 MT

    Tamiya F1 Car
    Traxxas E-Maxx

The traxxas T-maxx 2.5 costs around £400 (but is mostly pre-built and comes with transmitter / servos / reciever / crystals).+ 12 rechargable aa batteries (for reciever / transmitter) + £18 1 litre of fuel (should last a couple of weeks depending on useage) + glow plugs £2 each (should always have spare)! + battery charger (price varies depending on what you get).

Then comes the fun part of replacing parts when you crash into a curb at 50mph, because you forgot to charge the reciever batteries. Luckily most parts aren't too expensive.

If you buy servos / recivers on their own then you can pay anywhere from £10 - £60+ for servos, reciever £20-£100+ And a transmitter can go from a cheap second hand unit £20-£100 or brand new cheap one at £50-£150. And for a fairly decent transmitter you woud pay around £150 - £1000.

your best bet is to take a look at a few hobbyshops on the net, or even your localhobbyshop to get an idea of costs for what you want.

for a cost of shocks etc. goto www.ebay.com and search for traxxas shocks or traxxas t maxx or something similar. If you goto www.traxxas.com you can even download a pdf manual + several other pdf's showing you exactly how the truck or even their RC cars are made up.

if it hadn't been for my credit card company raising my limit, then I probably wouldn't have got one! They are expensive, but can be a great hobby.

A mate of mine bought one as well, so we go racing in fields & have comps to see who can do the longest doughnut etc. great fun!

expensive, but worth every penny. sometimes i wonder why i spend so much money on r/c, then i play and have a smile on my face. with pc's i often feel i'm frowning more than smiling. don't know why i still do hot-rod pc's, but i do.

[edit: i just noticed my rank is "what's a dremel?". lol, if i get asked that again i quit.]

My NMT (with shell/engine) kit costs around £280 in the UK, but i imported it from Hong Kong and it ended up totalling £180 :D

The radio gear was around £50

I've probably spent £100+ on other parts/spares though
