An mx440 isn't gonna be much cop for Half Life 2, nor will it be anywhere near as fast as its AGP brother due to bandwidth limitations on the bus :/
I'd agree - esp if this is going to be a LAN gaming PC then there is little point is skimping on the G-Card - I'd go with the best you can afford and workout a solution for keeping the thing cool. You don't want *anyone* to have an unfair advantage! (c:
I think I will stick with the Radeon9200 that Yo-Duh posted, it's fast enough and still AGP. I am running a Radeon 9000 here at work and I do like it, so a 9200 should be with-in my tastes. Plus I can afford it fairly soon. Tonight I will have the LEDs installed into the slots on the front and back. Plus updates on the mouse. Does no one have any comments on the fan holes?
(refering to the fans) Really well done! Look like they are a standard part of the ammocase The mesh fits with with the 'army' theme very well.
Nice mobo there zap, I've had the same one sitting here for my second PC waiting till I got the money for the CPU/RAM, which should be waiting for me when I get home tonight . BTW, this project is great. You really have raised the bar on what modders can do.
What is there to say about the Fans? They fit in with the theme perfecly. Can't wait to see some more pics......
I have decided I really want a DirectX9 video card. BUT up until Halflife2 gets released I need a temporary card to run games even if it's kinda slow. I found a MX440 card for only $50, and it's low-profile http://www.directron.com/aopenmx440dvi.html This will be a good in-between, and it's cheap
where did you get that grill, i want some sooo bad, but i cant find any where that sells it, online or off...
my god man this is really coming together, but what happent with ure media pc??? u havent done anything in ages...
I bought it at www.allelectronics.com It was a surplus thing though, so they don't have it anymore. /EDIT..NM I found it again, sry http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=255&item=MH-1&type=store The Media PC is all done as far as the small parts, I can't do anymore on it with just the time I have at night. I need the time to go to a full shop and work in it there. More details in my Media PC thread. (No more about the Media PC please, I want to keep the threads seprerate)
So when's the Lan ? Saturday ? Do you think it will be ready for then? I bet your case will be a one of a kind there..... What games are you gonig to be playing? Hope I'm not going too far of the thread.... Good luck, Kick some ass hope we get some shots of the case in action at the Lan...
The Lan is the 26th http://www.amdzone.com/lanparty.cfm It will be at least ready for show. Not enought for games though as it will have just a tiny 8mb PCI graphics card. There will be another LAN August 30th, so by then I hope to have everything on the case complete, and an MX400 to just do some light gaming on. By september or october I hope to have the LCD, a much faster graphics card, and some extra matching add-ons. This friday I am ordering some more parts: Three green cold cathodes (two for the keyboard, and a small one for the inside of the case (just to bleed light out the fan holes) Some rack mount handles More plastic mesh (For later stuff) New XLR connectors to make the power jack more safe.
fan holes yea the fan holes really are a nice touch plus with that grating you put over them it looks like its part of the case too bad its not waterproof anymore.... hehe great job *edit* if it were waterproof, you could rip it up hl2 style under the sea muhauhaha
man the day that thing makes it to a lan with full fire power, all eyes will be on you. if your aim is as good as your moddin' skillzzzz.
It is. I would do better at LANs if I was on a team though. But I don't want to join a team, I don't have the time
Maybe you could put the keyboard in the door and make it disconnectable so to play you pop out the front door and put it down, then on top theres a hinged 15" LCD. That would be pimp.
Altron look farther back in the thread. I will have a different case that I will use to transport the LCD. It is also large enough for a good mini-keyboard, mouse, CD's and all the cables needed for a LAN.
I really think you should change the spray painted text on the box, the "cannon ammunition 25mm" kinda spoils the unknown military device theme. Paint the recess black, and stencil on something like "Experimental Unit: J5SN63RP2 Handle with extreme caution." and some other crap to fill the space.
