Dude That Control Board Is Awesome.

The lighted buttons and layout are the best. Can't wait to see it in action. Have you given any serious thought to the servos you will use to move that bad boy????

I already have the servo, it is a Futaba S3003.

    http://www.futaba-rc.com/radios/futm0031.jpg

I have used these for a small robot.
They can be modified for full 360 degree movement.
But this is being used in a NON modified format of course.
(360 degrees would wrap the wires up pretty bad :)

It has plenty of power, and I can dial it up to any angle I want.

It will be mounted on one side of the LCD module, and the Power / USB wires will run out the other side.

i've used these servos before in one of my gas powered RC cars, their great, i put them through quite a beating with a series of different weather conditions and in the end (going on to year 2 i think) they still work great.
    excellent choice

Well I have stated to cut my first bit of plexi.

Don't get too excited, this it nothing special yet.

The first cut, the edges were sanded them flame polished.

Here is the plexi mounted to raise the LCD up.
It is held on via hot-glue, which should be fine to hold the LCD.
(Don't worry I am not using hot glue for the case)

    Hi

    Thats looking GREAT

To be honest, I didn't think u were going to beable to pull the IPAQ think off...
but Ur proving me wrong , good work , keep it coming

but I seriously hope ur gonna get lucky with software etc...
I'm doing something similer with my Compaq Aero 2100 PDA (running windows CE 2.11)
but i'm worrying about software things first ! after that, and when I get my new case (hopefully around new years) I'll be posting a huge project log too !
I've been able to create a seperate network between the Aero and my computer , then I've been able to install VNC (server on computer , viewer on Aero)
now , I've already made it work , so it works fine , (I've made an extra monitor.. (like u would do when u have 2 monitor's) ; but I only have 1 monitor , then I setted the resolution as low as it would go (640*480), then I made that monitor primair , then letted vnc to connect
    and ...
It worked perfectly , I saw the screen on my PDA .. (I had to scroll to see the whole screen tough ! , lol)
then i dragged some icon's from my bg to the second monitor (like IE)
and when i double pushed it with my finger on the Aero's touch screen , my computer started up IE..
and thats what i'm looking for !!!

    But
    I only have 1 problem !!!
The monitor that the AERO shows , cant be primary ! and I didn't found a way to choise wich monitor VNC use's.....
there is a patch to let it view ALL ur monitor's ... but I want to CHOISE wich of the 2 ...
And It cant handle more then 640*480 , but I think ur IPAQ will beable to handle more then that !!! (my aero is a bit old , but runs fine !!!)
    Uhm ..
So post about the software too !! I'm intrested how ur gonna do this
If you deside to write software for it , let me know personally !!! PLEASE
    Lovah7@yahoo.com
    Thanks !!
and I wish u good luck
I think this PDA thing is the coolest addition to ur media pc
(probebly because i'm planning to do something similer .. (but without the servo and all that .. lol , just in 2 drive bay's)

    Greets,
    Michiel

/edit, compacte the post; the double spacing was a little long. -ZapWizard

I will probably start out with VNC, after that I plan on getting better at progaming and write my own.

Really all I plan on is a LCD interface with a touch screen.
Where I have control over Winamp, the PC's lighting, Playlists of media, and display photos.

But I will worry about the software later.

This project is taking so much time, once the hardware is done, I will probably take a break for a few months before I work on the software.

One month to get my house cleaner, and less like a lab.
Two months with a little lighter modding.
(Don't worry there will be a cool project in the middle)

Here it is three days and no update...
(Actualy that is not too bad)

Well I got the ATOMMicroPro (Enhanced Basic stamp) in yesterday.
I got it connected and communicating, but it is going to take some time to adjust to it's programming.

I am going to the AMDZone.Com huge Lan party saturday.
    http://www.amdzone.com/lanparty.cfm

It promised to be huge, I would play if I could afford the in-house PC's as my normal PC is hardly LAN portable.
(That is a project for later)

I attempted to actualy make my own t-shirt using vinyle dye.
AND IT WORKS! Just use a paper template, put some sort of temporary adhesive on the back, and stick it to the shirt.
Vinyl dye like normal, in lot of LIGHT coats.

But I rushed too much and the smaller text started to bleed.
If you do it in light coats it should have worked out.

So tonight I am using t-shirt transfer paper to make a combo ZapWizard/Bit-Tech.net T-Shirt to were.

Zap you are a mad man!!!! I love your project. I even got my boss at work to check it out. We agree you should donate your brain to science. Im looking forward to the end result, and have lots of fun at LAN party.

Sell the T-shirts to fund your project...... Cool Idea! :thumb:
You could even include a pic of the media PC on the T-shirt.

    Here is the t-shirt:
    (Reposted from: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30900)

I decided I want a custom T-Shirt for the AMDZone LAN party on saturday.
    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30857

So a little photoshop, transfer paper, and a t-shirt later
    I have a awsome www.zapwizard.com / www.bit-tech.net combo t-shirt.

    The front

    The Back

    Disclaimer:
In all modding style I did not want to use transfer paper.
I attempted to make my own using vinyl dye, and a paper template. It does work, but takes too much time.

Now that t-shirt is cool! That Bit-Tech logo must have taken ages to do... all the colours. How'd you do it... mask off each colour individually?

He said he wanted to use vinyl dye but instead used transfer paper because it took too much time.
