This man knows his stuff. I've only had either classic mini, and my kit car and from 18 being member of club I've had insurance for 515 for the mini with all mods declared - alloys, buckets, fibreglass front, dashboard, boot, 1.3 engine swap.... Kit car is mini based and went from 450 to 220 the following year fully comp at 23/24years old, best of all a £50 excess!
Sounds interesting as I've been looking at getting a Honda Beat which are fairly enthsiast. Plus it's only a 660cc engine.
Had it since middle of feb, it was the separate one with the HT leads running to it, not had a problem since although I've noticed my engine gets very warm quite quickly, stays stable just very quickly
Ah, that's the good kind of coilpack then. You don't have an oil temp gauge on 1.1's, so take it easy after it's warmed up for about another 5 minutes to let the oil heat up a bit. Not that ragging it to death will get you anywhere mind...
I have some sort of temp gauge actually not sure if engine temp = oil temp (possibly a very stupid assumption/guess) I don't rag it, I thought you were meant to change gear when the needle reaches the red line at number 7?
The downfall to this is maintenance on such a classic can be very expensive and me on some cars not be worth the cost.
Your temp gauge is a "water" temp gauge that is actually a sensor screwed into the side of the head. If you watch it closely you'll see it rise, level off, then drop slightly as the thermostat opens. The temp of that is the block temperature, effectively, but the oil takes a few minutes longer to get up to proper temperature and give the appropriate... lubrication. Don't be afraid of giving it some either - keeps everything nice and clean when you keep the revs high once in a while, gets it all up to temp and burns a little coke off. An Italian tune-up as they say. At a quick google try Hastings, Churchill, eCar and Virgin. ETA: Also noticed you're a little high on the rep scale time for a regular adjustment methinks.

Get a Peugeot 205 on classic car insurance. If it is a lot less you might be able to get a 1.6 GTI, which are awesome cars and they are so simple you can probably fix them yourself.
Update for future insurance users just got quoted £1300 at elephant insurance for a 1.4 206 which far beats every other quote elephant seems to be the way to go
Not sure I'd recommend a car which is legendary for snap lift-off oversteer to a new driver. Like your thinking though! Ouch, you didn't buy a Peugeot did you?
I'm only japing really - make sure the rear suspension is rock solid (no camber on the wheels) and you'll be fine. Everything else is cheap/easy to repair or reliable.
If you want something sporty and older try looking into classic car insurance Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Now give Admiral a ring, when they quote you a higher price be nice and say 'thank you but elephant quoted me less so I'll be going with them'. Elephant are part of the Admiral Group so will be able to pull up their quote and then likely beat it.
Possibly worth a look at newer shape Nissan Micra's? I couldn't find anything that came back as cheap when looking at cars for my sister. Still not sure reading through this how I get mine for what I do. Just running through some comparison sites now... Just turned 25; Audi A4 2.0 Quattro S-Line, business use, 15000 miles - £773 (elephant) Triumph Spitfire 1500, personal use, 7000 miles - £106 for two drivers (classic car insurance Cheesecake)
