    Yes it is. I realy need 2 to lift the glaspanel equally on bot sides. If i use the ones with a motor then i can not hide them.

    A lot of fans yes, i Always run fans in a push pull config. So in one pedestel are 2 x 560 x 8 = 16 fans for one pedestel.

    Still a lot of work ahead of me.

    Needed a new countersink tool.

    The old one workes alright but sometimes you want to try something else.
    So i got me more screws and a countersink miller.

    I am going to change the boldhead screws for these countersink ones.
    Yes i think flat surface look better.

    [IMG]

    Al the screwholes are finished. "this is also meaning that i need to make a new one for the right front side because the holes are to deep. But that is oke because i now know how to do it a better way.

    [IMG]

    I also got a few packages with different types of rubber "damping for under the glaspanel frame" and rubber for to rest the glas plate on".
    Because the desk must go to the powdercoater i can not take of the tape of the 3mm neopreen tape. For measuring and fitting i use tape to hold it down. Then i place the frame on top of it and measure the space where i can drill to mount the hinges.

    [IMG]

    Getting a college veteran over so no building today. But tommorw i wil be back then i remake the right corner piece and start with the two at the back where i mount the hinges.

    Ill be back .

    Lazy sunday,

    Had a great bbq with veteran friends yesterday so i am late today.
    What did i do today.

    I removed the right corner piece for the glaspanel frame "where the holes where to deep".

    After this job i started with the making of the back coner pieces "also for the glaspanel frame".

    The have a differend size then the ones at front because at the back the hinges wil be mounted on.

    The tread that i am putting in is M5, so i use drill 4,1. After drilling the holes in the corner pice i place the plate against the frame. Now i can use the plate as a drilling mall.

    [IMG]

    In this picture i am countersinking the screwholes. Because the plate getting verry hot i use a clamp for holding the plate in place.

    [IMG]

    The rest is for the file. Rounding of all the edges.

    [IMG]

    Ill be back. :D

    Yes and not finished. But The last pieces Always cost more time then whe want.

    When the hinges are installed i can order the glaspanel and the actuators for automatic lifting the glaspanel.

    I know looking at a picture from a hinge is no fun. But it is the way i work.
    Make a little progress and share "the mistakes \ the progress\ etc".
    Getting more happy when i finish things. Yes building cost a lot of your time esspecialy when you only use handtools.
    During the build i am already thinking ahead what next to do.
    next jobs:
    - fit in 2 more hinges in the middle of the desk;
    - fit in actuators ( still need to order them);
    - order a glaspanel for the desk "with lifting tools to install the panel".
    And i need to figer out the actuators that i need. I thinking about mounting them to the mdf block below the pedestel and mount them vertical to the edge of the glaspanel frame.
    But before i do this i need more specs about:
    - glaspanel weight;
    - actuators (multi or single purpose);
    - length of the cilinders and how far i can open the desk;
    So there is a lot going on in my mind.
    BUT I AM VERRY HAPPY about the progress i made today.

    Came back from the firestation this morning.

    Still tired but i want to do som building.

    Working on the so call bridges (plates to mount the last two hinges on).

    I got new material for the build (strip 40 x 3mm) to form the bridge.
    Because i want to make the construction also verry strong i saw out a few edges. And i did the same on the top trim. Now the bridge fall in place like a puzzle.

    Front part connection don.

    [IMG]

    After drawing contourlines with a pencil on the other side. \i saw out the other side.
    For avery action i need to remove the top trim and mount it again.

    Yes it fits.

    [IMG]

    To show you how i mount the hinges i place the hinge on the plate and put a small angle piece in front of it.

    The last hinge is mounted in to the desk.

    The first thing i thought "yes yes get the glas panel". So excited i am about the progress".
    But thinking about it i need first get the actuators and mount them to both sides of the desk .

    "you are thinking whoo what a big desk" wel it is 2040 long and 980 mm deep.

    [IMG]

    Better close up.

    [IMG]

    The show must go on and so is my build.

    Almost vacation "what that has to do with my build i wil tell you". Needed paint for my project in france 100 m2 . I got the paint and the route for the painshop was also the route to the glas enterprise. "No the only sell to enterprises" but if i pay in advance then i can place the order.

    Yes i am a happy man. My wife pulls here credit card :D
    I will cut your pocketmoney she says . O yes right :duh:

    So now that i know the weight and the thickness of the glaspanel i can work trimming the edge a few mill.

    [IMG]

    Ye big panel for a desk "hope to get it upstairs in one piece. :D

    Hope it is saturday soon.
    Then i drive back to Holland and my desk.
    In my mind i am already building again. Need to file down 3 mm on each side of the glaspanel frame before i get my glass delivered the 25-08.

    Until sunday i am stock here in france "laying at the pool and drinking beer" . O yes almost forgot had a few house mods to do the last few days. Painting , chopping wood, and replacing the smoke alarms in the house "what a job".

    But ill be back soon dont worry. Cant wait until the desk is going to the powdercoater.

    The acuators for the glaspanel is a NO go. Yes to tricky for now.
    But the good news is that i am going to use them for the lifting device behind the desk where a few screens will be mount on. But that project starts when the desk is finished.

    Yes long time no updates.

    That was because i was in france for a short work vacation with family.
    The battery is charged and i am ready to start modding again.
    The parts that i must finish befor end of next week are:
    - making standoffs for the desk;
    - drill 3 or 4 holes for the cables from the leds;
    - file back on tree sides of the glaspanelframe.

    I orderd the glaspanel before i went to france and the delivery is 25-08.

    In the mean time i mod my room. "painted the room in bunker gray as i call it and moved averything to a difference place.

    Going to drink a cup off coffee and then back upstairs for mounting the IKEA cabinet together for the Caselabs TH-10.

    Piictures later today.

    It is like starting up again.

    Slow slow "but still have one week vacation" to work on the build.

    Because the desk is placed at the right side of my mod room i dont have much space to move the glaspanel around the desk. I think i move the desk the the long wall. So basicly i am going to mod my room. Paint the walls replace averything to a other place.

    It took me 3 day's to finish. Had to go twice to the shop for more paint.
    Finaly all the build have their own work place and i can move on with the desk.

    At last i manage to move most off the stuf to the right wall. The wall is painted a gray color.
    I call it "bunker gray".

    The black dragon build is on one off the cabinets. Als the parts that belong to that build are in the drawers below.

    [IMG]

    The desk has moved to the long wall. You can see the right wall is still white.
    The can wit paint for 40m2 was not enough to finish al the walls. So i got a extra 2,5 liter to finish the right side.

    [IMG]

    Finaly the right side is painted.
    Got a new cabinet for under the Caselabs TH-10 "parts in the drawers".
    Still need to get one more cabinet for my tools.

    [IMG]

    I orderd a few liters of coollant for the two builds.
    It arived a few days ago.

    [IMG]

    I also orderd 2 more license Windows 10 64 bits for the desk after i updated both my 2 systems downstairs.

    Next job is making a transport plate for the glaspanel.

    But i can not sit on my but "have to make a transport plate to get my glaspanel tuesday.

    I already got me a mdf plate to make the crate.

    Tools on the table.
    I am making support strips on the mdf plate.

    [IMG]

    Making support strips on 3 sides. Straps for holding the panel in place during transport.

    [IMG]

    Pffffff am i glad that the glaspanel is home\ upstairs and in one piece.

    Altho the glaspanel is 6 x stronger then normal glas i wasn't so sure that it stay in one piece.
    "the man off the glascompagny told me that if it is supported in a frame i can stand on it".
    O yes sure "but i dont going to try it out".

    Lucky i made the crate 2 cm longer. It fits perfect in my homemade crate.
    Now i can start finishing the desk before i can send it to the powdercoater.
