Working further on the desk "my precious".

Unwraping the insert panels and get the protection screws out that where in during the powdercoat job. It seems that some one tiden them . Grrrr. I replaced 3 pressnuts and made a scratch on on of the panels. "O boy more work.

On this picture i have placed the insertpanels in. "still need to fit the grommets back in".
On tree sides of the desk is placed a 4 mm neopreen layer to dampen the glaspanel frame that wil be mount on top of it.
All parts for the glaspanel frame are spread around the desk. I hope to get the screws out without damage.

    Right inside panel back in.

More paint jobs comming up "i want the motherboard tray and the backpanel also in the same color as the desk". Little job but it cost extra time.

Lucky i have a week of from work next week to work on the desk.

Yesterday i finished mounting the switches and the faceplates.

This evening i mounted the glaspanel frame on the desk.

I had to re tap a few holes because there was som powdercoating in the tread.
Smooth but patient job. 57 screws in total and 4 hinges.

Whe startd with putting the parts in the corners where whe think the belong. I markt the edges. So it is no big puzzle.

My daughther wanted me to help her getting a few cabinets. Ye big car Always handy when your dad have one. :D

In the shop i found this "lock bond". :D Nice i am going to use this for mounting the screws in the glaspanel frame.

    Here whe go.

    Frame mounted to the desk.

Mod of the month "yes seeing that i am nominated\ mentioned is nice".
But more important for me is sharing my build with the ups and downs of building your own dream machine. I Always say "anybody who can count to ten can build his\ her own dream machine".

I am not a fast builder at all "thats because i dont have a army of orks to help me".
And because my build is for me a build from the top shelf mods.

Trying to learn new skills and love to build.

8 months ago i started this modding war. Thanks to holding on and never give up i came this far.

So i am up early today 10:00 . had my first cup of coffee and i am ready for som more work.

Pick up the painted tray from the back and made my first pictures from today.

    Ill be back soon.

    Bussy with fitting the parts.

Afew grommets are placed in and i am looking if all parts fit in correct.
Because i want to change out the other support plates from under the insertpanel i made 40 x new ones. On this picture i test fit the parts and it seems that the are 2mm to tall. I can not align the screwholes at the backpanel to mount the motherboard tray.

No big deal but it cost me two dayes in total to fix this litle problem.

I finished the gamingside on the left. So tommorow i start with the rest of the 20 plates.

    Angle piece 40 x 20 x 3mm ready for the saw job.

I forgot lunchtime. But my son brought me a cup of tee

What a mess. But i leave it there until i finish my other 20 plates tommorow.

    Small mod on the io-panel.

I forgot that i had made a few slices under the insertpanel at the back to gain access under the insert panel for the cables. When i mount the io-panel i notice that i forgot to make 2 cut outs in the io-panel. So a little modification.

I started with two new Asus Titans 6gb.
During my build i purchaged one more.

Because i already had the XSPC Razor blocks on them i choose for the same block again.

Last week i bought me a 4e Titan 6 GB and the Razor block is on backorder.

And because all the plates are made matt black this one have to change color too.

Working further on the support plates for under the insert panels.

Altho the are under the insertpanel and you dont see them i want them to be the same color as the desk.

The shelf with my cans off paint is empty. So i had to fo shopping again.

Plates where paint sprayed and dry. Nex step is putting double sided tape under them.

    Patient job. 40 x

    Finished

Working on the led strips for under the top of the desk.

I found out that i did not had to place double sided tape in the led profiles because these ledstrips already stay in by pressing them in the profile. So that is the good news.

The bad news is that i can not have enough length on my roll. I need 5,5 meter and the roll is 5 meter. A nother thing is the corners of the desk makes that the ledprofiles pop out and turn. I dont like that so i deside to make 4 sepparate string. This means also soldering 4 strips with long power cables ont them. It is a long way to the back.

Because i going to place a 4e titan in i also put in a psu just for the leds ( 100 watt with a controler) .

my idee is to bring the wires to the back "sleeved" and then attatch them together.
A lot of work but i have to do this.

After soldering the wires to the ledstrips i tested them with the controller.

Moving your fingers over the colorring of the controller changes the colors fast. I also can change the brightness of the leds. Whe see more of this when i fire up the desk.

    different color

I also workt on the lightning of the aquero panel.

I try 5 volt leds, 12 volt leds, led strip. But nothing that make me happy.

I an not controll it. I dont give up but this is going to be a job for after the build.

Time to make more holes to pass tru my led wiring.

Time to work on my led strips.

After soldering the wires on yesterday it was time to drill som holes in the desk for parsing the cables to the back.

Step one is to get these wires sleeved.

    Temporary shrinking the top.

Ha ha "this is my way".

I quick placed the led psu and controller in the back and connected som wires together.

    Lights on

After connecting up the wires for the led strips yesterday it was time to do som cable management.

I now i have plenty of room but i want to look a bit sharp.

So most of the time from today went to the cable management.

After drilling a few holes i found a better way to route the powercables to the middle of my called psu box.

I got a 100 Watt psu special for the leds. and a wireless controller to choose from avery color i like and to switch off the leds if i want to.

Left from the controller is the 100 Watt psu. I choose to mount it against the front of the box to keep as much space clear for my other two 1200 Watt psu's.

This was it for the afternoon. :D

More work . Yes it is fun to work on the desk "see the desk grow".

I must admit that i dont have all the parts yet but that is only a matter of time.
In the meantime i keep building. And i got plenty of parts to put in.

So back to where i left the build. Building in the Thermaltake Bleu Riing fans 12 and 14 and the 2 Thermaltake Pacific 560 radiators.

I guess i need to drill som more holes for the power cables of the fans but first i want a view how it looks and what possibilities i have to work it out. So my first step is to mount the fans and look what work i have to do.

Again i startd wih testing and look wich way i have to turn the fan push or pull.

Mounting the fans in give me a idee what to do.

Yes i agree 2 meter is long for a desk build "but i want it". :D

It is not my choise "the Peter Pan color" some one asked for it !

    More tommorow :thumb:

Ha ha I mounted the last fans in the desk yesterday.

Today i have to do something about the cables management of these cables.
" Yes plenty of room but i don need to see the cables".

So it was time to mark the place where the fancables have to go down.

I markt the spots on the tape.

Time for the jigsaw and the file.

    Checking tool.

And after drilling and filing below the radiator i can lead the fancables down and mount the radiator and the fans.

    No cables to see! :D

    Ahum "ye i love it"

Ill be back tommorow for more mounting.

Today i want to build in the last radiator with the fans.

But before i show you the result i show the result from the update yesterday.

    Wires disapear under the insertpanel.

And after drilling the last hole in the back for the fancables i mounted the last radiator with the fans.

    Again testing.

Then i modified the mounting of the back ledprofile. I changed out the countersink screws.

The last thing that i did was putting the neopreen tape on the back .

Spme times the organizing things cost time. My plan was yesterday to extend my old psu's cables to fire up all the fan in my desk . I just manage to do half the job. So lets see what this evening brings.

I am just back home from the firestattion from my normal working day. A package is on the table.
    "yes i love packages".

My 4e Asus Titan arived. The XSPC Razor block is on back order "so i have to wait a little longer".
But i have enough work to do on the desk.

    I got the bleu's,

I needed to see how it looks. Manage to extend the power cables of my spare testing psu.

How does it looks "subtile" !! bleu light district.

Altho there are 40 x 140 Thermaltake bleu riing fans are running at 900 rpm the desk stays on the ground.

    Like it or not.

    I like the view.

It is hard to take a good picture. Work table is in the way and the desk is 2 meter.
I feel like spiderman crawling in the corners of my room to be able to take a good picture.

I like the combination of colors "deep black and bleu".

    Other angle.

Inside look into one of the two pedestels.

Leds inside the desk switchst off.

    Ill be back soon.

    Modifications on the desk.

I had to change a few things:
    - moving the front side fans (because blokt airflow from the drives);
    - mounting the front insertpanels to the bottom of the desk ( avoid moving from the drives;
    - cover the first fanhole on both sides;
    - making a cover for on top of the drives.

Al the above work is finished.
At the moment i am mounting the other drive cages on the right side.

Lucky i have all the drawings on a stick so a drilling mall was finished quick.

    A few holes to drill.

A new look "Asus rampage V extreme".

    Finished for this weekend.

    :D

The rest is for the file and the sandpaper.

Finished "the mb that you see is a Asus Rampage IV Extreme Black edition that i am going to move to the right side of the desk".

At the moment i am mounting the other icy-docks. For this i use the RVS screws and washers and a permanent marker to make them black.

Still so many things to do.

I like, I like a lot, I'll take two, thanks :thumb:

Wondering if it's cheaper to replace my central heating with 2 rigs running quad SLi Titan X'S and your build seems adequate to fit said rigs and cool them :D

You take two "ha ha ".

    Back to the build.
Verry little progress because i have to plan things first instead of trowing parts in to the desk.

After trying to make a loop just by putting parts in i had a slide problem.
Ahum "what to do" making a drawing . Spend the hole evening with drawings.

Yes i need help. "i am going to make a raster on paper to help me out".

The holes for the extra fan are made on both sides of the desk.
I need fangrills\filter to cover the fanholes. I have already a few for my other build. So led see if the fit into this build.

    I see a few problems:

    - color "to much bleu;
    - two different meshes "need other fangrills for the pedestel also;
    - this 2 layer fangrill hitting the outsticking screws so i need a 3 layer to cover that and to house the
    filter.

I am going to make the 3e layer myself from 3mm strips.
i need a mall so i use the orifinal fangrill to help drawing one on paper.

Time for sawing and filing. "I lover to work with aluminium".

After many hours filing and sanfing and drilling the 3e layer is pre mounted on to the back of the fangrill.

All parts are made and ready for a few layers of paint.

Finished ! "NO" . I need to get som fine filter material for on the back to keep som dust out the desk.

I found this fine musquito mesh. "lets see what i can do whit it".

Fine mesh mounted between the 2e and 3e layer.

After repainting the fangrill a few times with matt black i choose to order 4 more 560 fangrills at Coldzero. This time a triple layer fangrill.

After cutting out the mesh in the pedestel i mount the other fangrill also on the excisting sidepanel on the pedestel.

    The result is better.
