I don't care what it's called as long as it gets done.

Damn, I've thought myself several times allready abot making a case based on those passive cooling elements.

I dig your design there, especially No. 2 with the centered reservoir.

Make sure to have a can of pressurized air on your desk to get rid of the dust every other day :D

-And the big money-saver question: Have you re-drawn the parts in a solid model software?

Not yet --I hope to export them to a CAD program where I can clean them up and turn them into .IGES files. But I want a cost estimate first before I tackle that hurdle.

Wow Nexxo, I love the designs and planning. I even see holes for fastners:D I like design 4, which is what it looks like you are going with. I was thinking it might look cool with the video cards running vertical like in design 3. If someone already suggested it sorry...
Can't wait to see this started.

I considered turning the mobo that way, because vertical cards are a nice symmetrical match to the vertical radiator tubes. But the connectors would interfere with the reservoir, which has to be at the highest point to make an efficient air trap.

I'm impressed, this is taking good shape. Do you have any idea of the overall size and the approximate cost ?

Size is actually fairly compact --about the size of a midi-tower (I don't like huge rigs). Cost... Well, I suspect it's going to be very expensive to do the CNC bits.

Don't know if you've noticed, but there are 10 black Cape Cora's on ebay at the moment, could save you a decent penny.

Spray them with lye-based oven cleaner, put them in black trash bags for a while, and voila, the anodizing comes off.

No kidding? Thanks for the tip! :thumb:

I am actually pursuing your idea of having them anodised in gold/brass colour. I've emailed Alphacool seeing if they'd do a special one-off order, otherwise I could use your oven cleaner trick and have them re-anodised locally. Birmingham (UK) where I live has a lot of metalwork industry.

I love the idea of building an 'old fashioned' style pc.

I've got an old iron sewing machine/table kicking around...now im cosndering building a pc into it.

EDIT: I knew the idea reminded me of something

Those old Singer thread-table sewing machines are an awesome basis for a mod. You remove the sewing machine that folds into the table, and put a monitor in the flap instead. When you lift the flap you expose monitor and keyboard. The table contains a big hollow hidden space to accommodate the sewing machine so it can house computer hardware instead.

I'm back to the drawing board. Enak informs me that to CNC 'Camille' would take much more than the £750,-- budget I have for the project (the legs turn out to be particularly tricky). So I'm going for something a bit less complicated and ambitious.

I'm deadly looking forward to see 'Camille'. Maybe you could use less CNC parts by replacing some by wooden parts (if you can cut/sculpt them yourself).

I love steampunk / victorian style.

Have you considered outsourcing, custom one-off CNC stuff here in China is cheap as so many factories compete with each other. Can't see how it could be that expensive if g-code and dwg files were provided to use on a good 3 axis lathe.

The legs alone need a 5-axis lathe. :(

So I'm redesigning... the new design will be inspired by a carriage clock. Only cooler. :)

Or someone to make it all by hand. You know, you could look at that.
